More than anything, my twenties have been defined by an identity crisis, and slowly, slowly embracing who I am, letting go of who I'm not. The constant challenge - and invitation - is to define myself by the words God has spoken over me, that I am beloved, whole, without blemish before Him. His are the truest words spoken about you and me, the ones that matter and will stand when the accolades and rejection of this world fall away.

I cause myself much angst by having the audacity to think His words, His view, His truth is not enough. Weakness and insecurity reduce me to an anxiety ridden adolescent, desperate to be liked. This is how the flesh fights against the spirit. It skews my vision into thinking His faithful love, deeper than the ocean, matters less than the capricious opinions of others.

The Lord is the only one who can love us as we need to be loved, unfaltering and constant. When shallow thinking drives us to seek approval and affirmation in the opinions of others, let us be overcome by His opinion of our worth.

The affirmation of man is fleeting, fickle, and fading, but Christ's love went to the cross for us. He saw us for who we really were- broken, needy, helpless - and said you're worth it. Who on earth can see the worst side of us and offer to die in our place? Whose opinion can matter more than His?
