Sunday's Service - September 8, 2019 | We welcome Todd Nye to lead us in Worship this week. Todd Samuel Nye grew up in Richfield, Ohio and graduated from High School in 1980. He came to know Christ and was converted during his senior year. The Lord used a four-word expression in Ezekiel 18:31 (for why will ye die), shared with him by his older brother, to illuminate his mind, open his heart, and convince him to turn from his sin and trust in Christ. He immediately experienced a profound transformation in his lifestyle and his philosophy of the very purpose for life. After serving in the USAF from 1980-1984, he earned a BA in Bible with a minor in Greek in 1993, went on to receive his Masters in Bible in 1999, and completed some work toward a Doctor of Pastoral Theology. He served as the pastor of Christ Memorial Bible Church from 1993-1996 and served as the Pastor of Southwest Community Baptist Church from 1999-2016. From 2017-2019, he traveled as an itinerate minister conducting church assessments and revitalization. He served as an adjunct professor at The Bible Institute for ten years teaching New Testament Survey, Pastoral Epistles, Old Testament History, and Systematic Theology. Todd is committed to a clear expositional style of pulpit ministry, undergirded by strong and unchanging doctrine, and to spreading the Gospel of Christ through fervent evangelism. He currently lives in Akron, Ohio with his wife of thirty-nine years, Kathie. He has three married daughters and five grand-children. We look forward to welcoming Todd to Common Ground Church Community! We commemorate those we lost, and give thanks to the brave first responders that put their lives on the line to help. So, this 9/11, take a moment to remember with us. September 11 is an ideal day to seek out opportunities to give back to your community, or do a good deed for those who are less fortunate. Come together with your fellow Americans to plant trees, run food drives, clean up neighborhoods, paint schools...really, any act of service will suffice. The volunteer project you choose doesn’t even have to be directly related to 9/11; simply uniting with others to do good is a beautiful act of remembrance. And let us consider how we may spur one another on toward love and good deeds. ~ Hebrews 10:24 | For I was hungry and you gave me food; I was thirsty and you gave me a drink; I was a stranger and you took me in; I was naked and you clothed me; I was sick and you visited me. I was in prison and you came to me. .....When you did it to one of the least of these my brothers and sisters, you were doing it to me.
