Sundays: Bright Spot at PrintSpace

With the closing of the Augustana Rehabilitation Center in Sunset Park, Bright Spot's mission will be changing slightly.

Monoprint

Bright Spot was designed to allow participants a relaxed environment to learn about the beauty of monoprint/monotype while brightening up the day of another.

The Sunday routine remains the same. Drop in any Sunday between the hours of 11-3. For $30, you will receive papers to print on, a 5” x 7” plexiglass plate, ink and press assistance. Imagery will be developed by painting or rolling ink onto the plate. Choose to use simple stencils or textures, layering colors to enhance images.

Each participant will choose one print to leave behind. However, the image chosen will be delivered to residents at a local Family Shelter instead of Augustana.

Register here for a Sunday Bright Spot. Please spread the word!

Drypoint Workshops and Culminating Exhibition Schedule

Drypoint from demo

Drypoint is an intaglio printing technique. At PrintSpace, we use tools to incise a line into a plexiglass plate. A variety of lines can be made with different sizes of needles. Tone can also be achieved using a roulette to abrade the surface of the plate.

Ink is pushed into the recesses of the plate. Extra ink is wiped away leaving the ink only in the incised lines. Dampened paper and a run through the press produces a more delicate print.

A second plate may be used for adding color through the monoprint process.

Workshop artists curate prints produced during the workshops for a 1-2 week exhibition at PrintSpace.

Come toast the artists on April 26th from 6-8 pm. Free and open to the public! Refreshments served.
