Letter From
Mary Lou Kropp
2020 High Plains Emmaus
Community Lay Director
Hey High Plains Emmaus Community,
Wow, it seems like forever….. since we have been together, but it’s just been 8 weeks as I write this letter. I pray this finds each of you well. I want to thank each of you for doing your part in this situation we have found our nation in with the Covid 19 virus and social distancing. I wish I could tell you that it will all be over tomorrow, but I can’t. What I can definitely tell you is that God is in control, He has a plan, to trust Him, and have faith that we will get through this.
With that said and at the time I am writing this letter the social distancing is still in effect until May 15 in New Mexico. I am not real sure what the Texas governor has begun to open back up. Therefore, we will not be having a May Community Gathering. I encourage each of you to find (if you haven’t already) an online church service/devotional/bible study and stay plugged in through that. Many of our clergy have been doing this for weeks through the media (Facebook or webpage). The Upper Room guidelines are very definitive on the use of digital media (Pictures or Video) with the Emmaus Communities. So, we will not be part of this type worship until they say we can.
If you missed the one call, we have moved our walk dates for the remainder of the year. Women’s Walk #54 with Lay Director Jill Denton, and Spiritual Director Larry Mitchell will be September 24-27, 2020. Men’s Walk #39 with Lay Director Terry Leatherwood, and Spiritual Director Wayne Kinman will be October 15-18, 2020. And Women’s Walk #55 with Lay Director Kathi Shaw, and Spiritual Director Suzanne Brockmeirer to February 25-28, 2021. Please continue to pray for these walks and Gods guidance with the pilgrims for these walks.
I know my 4th days have been all over the place. Fortunately, I have had more good days than bad. And my bad have just been trying or frustrating. Each time I have had contact with our board members this has been the consensus. We have continued to pray for guidance for the community and each of you, and your families. I know that you are all doing the same which is one reason I love this community so much. We love and care for each other dearly.
I feel like my thoughts have been all over the place in this letter, but the main rudder is still very deep in Jesus Christ my Savior and the directions He is leading.
De Colores,
Mary Lou Kropp
Community Lay Director
