2021 High Plains Emmaus
Community Lay Director
Dear Emmaus Community,
For I consider that the sufferings of this present time are not worthy to be compared with the glory which shall be revealed in us. For the earnest expectation of the creation eagerly waits for the revealing of the sons of God. For the creation was subjected to futility, not willingly, but because of Him who subjected it in hope; because the creation itself also will be delivered from the bondage of corruption into the glorious liberty of the children of God. Romans 8:18-21
Dear brothers and sisters in Christ Jesus, greetings in the name of our Lord and Savior. I have been meditating on Romans 8 and I believe it is a rich section of scripture in which Paul so eloquently expresses God's plans for the followers of Jesus, not only in eternity but here and now. The fact that Jesus secured sonship for us through His selfless act of redemption on the cross is staggering when one truly considers it. The work we do in Emmaus is the work of revealing the God that loves us as sons (the term son is meant as a position of inheritance and is not related to gender).
I'd like to thank First United Methodist Church of Clovis for hosting the February meeting. It was so good to see all of you at the meeting that night. I'd like to thank Jessica Baca for sharing her moving Fourth Day Talk with us that evening. I'd also like to thank Keli Marshall for leading us in praise and worship that night. Ricky also gave us an update on the building project at the ARK. This project is going to expand the facility and bring in modernization that is much needed (they are still soliciting funds so the project can be started).
Please pray about how you would support High Plains Emmaus, through prayer, attending monthly meetings and giving financially. More than ever, High plains Emmaus needs your prayers, participation and financial support.
At the February Board meeting, it was decided that we would move ahead with the remaining walks for this year. Currently there are three walks planned for 2021:
▪ Women's Walk #54 in June
▪ Men's Walk #39 in July
▪ Women’s Walk #55 in September
If you would like to sponsor a pilgrim please go to the High Plains Emmaus web site and download the registration paper work and get them signed up. The cost of a walk remains at $215.00.
Our next Community Meeting will take place on March 2nd at Central Baptist Church in Clovis, New Mexico. The Board will meet at 5:30 PM and Community will begin at 7:00 PM. Please plan on attending, I know you will enjoy the fellowship, the fourth day talk, and Communion. This is a time for us to come together in the Emmaus community as one in the Body of Christ, to pray, to encourage one another and to receive what our Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ, has for each of us.
De Colores!
