From forming to performing - what stage is your veterinary team at

Hi Member,

Ever wondered how a high performing team gets to be high performing?

As I'm sure you're well aware developing a high performing team doesn't occur over night. In fact some teams never seem to get there.

Which is why Tuckerman's 4 stages of team development is such a useful theory as it can help you get an idea as to what stage your team is at. Check out the blog post below to find out more.

As you may have already noticed, there are a number of veterinary blogs that I really love to share and I've always wanted to find out more about the people behind them. So this week is the first in the new series: Inside Veterinary Blogs - How you can join the pack and Dr Anne Fawcett (Smallanimaltalk.com) explains the how's & why's of her blog.

There's also an interesting 'Top Management Tip' on how to manage and keep millennials (Gen Y) in your business. My favourite?: "Being a Millennial is all about life long learning, upskilling and retraining”

And finally - it's time to get your nominations in for the VNCA 2016 Vet Nurse & Vet Nurse Student of the Year Award. Check out the details below.

Our aim is to help you - save time, connect & discover!

Enjoy your reading :)

Top Management Tip

milennials-200

How to manage and keep Millennials in your business (Smart Company)

'Millennials' are the generation born between 1980 and 2000 and are expected to make up 75% of the workforce by 2025.

"Millennials are confident, demanding and open to change. They grew up immersed in technology and instant communication."

Areas to consider....

The turnover problem

“There is more career mobility as this is a multi-career generation,”

What drives them?

“Money isn’t always necessarily the biggest motivator for this demographic, who tend to be more socially and environmentally conscious,”

Set goals

"Millennials can get bored quickly if the next goal or achievement seems too far away."

Training

"Being a Millennial is all about “life long learning, upskilling and retraining”

Click here to download the 'What's on in 2016? CPD Calendar' - an essential tool for Millennials!

Culture

"Millennials aren’t so keen on traditional 9-5 workdays tied to a desk. Instead the catch phrase of this generation is 'work life balance'."

Leadership

“Lead as a coach and mentor rather than being authoritative.”
