Recap of Term 2

We cannot believe how quickly Term 2 has gone by! Our students have been working hard to achieve their learning goals and all students should feel proud of the efforts they are putting in.

Student Reports were shared with families last week and we had parent/teacher conferences this week. It was great to see so many families throughout the day and the teachers were excited that they got to share work samples with you.

Here are some of our memorable moments from term 2:
● Cross Country Carnival
● Year 5/6 taking part in the Endeavour Youth Leadership program
● Mothers Day Breakfast
● Education Week
● Open Night- Focus on STEM
● MVPS hosted a Chess Tournament
● 1/2 Park Excursion
● Prep Zoo Excursion
● Book Fair
● Lightning Premiership for 5/6
● 3/4 Amazing Race Incursion
● Wicked the Musical
● Open Afternoon

A very BIG thank you to all of our parents and carers who have volunteered this term. It is fabulous to see parents listening to students read, parents volunteering on excursions and inter-school sports. We look forward to having more opportunities for parents and carers in Term 3.

Grade 3/4 students had a go at writing their own short scripts. We were very impressed by Boah, Ashar and Otis’ script, ‘Donut Frenzy’ and wanted to share it. We think it is better than the published scripts we used! Well done Boah, Ashar and Otis!

Donut Frenzy

(Two friends talking).
B: Hey, do you like donuts Bob?
C: Yes, I do Andrew. I like them very much.
B: You wanna buy donuts? Shh… don’t tell my parents. They hate donuts!
C: But how do we get them? I don’t have money.
B: We’ll just rob the bank… and when I say bank, I mean my parents!
(Parent enters and overhears).
A: YOU’RE NOT ROBBING ANYTHING THIEF!
B: Uh… uh… uh… who’s… what… who’s robbing? What’s rob? I’m not robbing…
A: YOU’RE NOT EATING ANYTHING YOUNG MAN AND YOUR DISTURBING FRIEND!
B: We’re not eating anything, Dad!
C: Yeah! He’s telling the truth!
B: (Whispers). Nice one, Bob!
A: OK, then. (Walks away).
C: Now, let’s get some donuts! Woohoo!
B: Bob! Shh…!
A: (Returns). WHAT DID YOU SAY?
B: No… no… no… he said… ‘Let’s do-nut get some donuts!
A: THAT’S IT! YOU’RE ONLY EATING OATS FOR 3 WEEKS!
C: What? What? That doesn’t apply to me, does it?
A: Of course it does! It always does!
C&B: Noooooooooo!

Friends of Malvern Valley

Friends of Malvern Valley (FOMV) is an initiative run by the MVPS Parents Association and is offered to all members of the MVPS community. The program is in place to assist families who may need some extra support from time to time. Should anyone require some additional support such as meals, second-hand uniforms, or assistance with pick ups/drop offs then you are able to make confidential requests by emailing MVPS Principal Amy Tinetti or emailing FOMV directly at fomv@outlook.com.au

FOMV is also seeking new helpers to join the database. If you have the capacity to be on the FOMV database, please email fomv@outlook.com.au and specify the types of assistance you can provide.

Victoria's Container Deposit Scheme

MVPS is now registered to receive donations through Victoria’s Container Deposit Scheme. Together we can make a positive difference to our environment and our school community. We encourage all MVPS Families to return eligible bottles/cans to the Oakleigh Return It Depot (Oxford St, Oakleigh). Once your donations have been fed through the machine click on ENTER SCHEME ID and scan our school barcode (attached), and your donation will be made to the school. Keep your receipt and give it to your teacher when we return to school and the winning class at the end of each term will receive a class prize! To check eligibility of containers just look for the 10c mark or visit cdsvic.org.au

In order to streamline the weekly school delivery run any online orders placed for delivery to school will be delivered by a Spartan driver every Tuesday.

Online orders placed by midday on a Monday will be included in the school delivery the next day. Any orders placed after this time will be delivered in the following weeks run.

Inspire Robotics

Inspire Robotics is a forward thinking company dedicated to bringing real life engineering projects into the classroom. Many students never get the chance to work on real engineering projects until university and grow up thinking that engineering and STEM are boring or 'not for them'.
We have shown thousands of students how exciting STEM can be by launching rockets, developing games and so much more, and would love to extend our programs to all Malvern Valley students.
We are running a variety of programs at Phoenix Park to choose from, including Soccer Robots and Animatronics. Please choose any number of programs/days that suit you!
Full day supervision will be provided. Please visit our website here to view all our amazing programs. Click ‘After-school’ to book in, and experience a truly one of a kind STEM program."
