New Album 'The Allure of Miss Lee' Celebrates The Centenary of Jazz Icon Peggy Lee's Birth

Catherine’s new release features songs from her show – The Allure of Miss Lee which debuted in April 2019 at the Headgate Theatre, Colchester and has been playing to sell out audiences throughout 2019 and early 2020. With warmth and humour Catherine explores the life and songs of jazz icon, Peggy Lee from humble beginnings in North Dakota, to her first break as a big band singer with Benny Goodman through to her successful solo career as a singer/song writer and one-time Hollywood actress. With her choice of songs and arrangements and a fabulous band consisting of Paul Higgs on piano and trumpet, Alex Keen on bass, Alex Field on guitar and Jason Campbell on drums, Catherine captures the essence of Peggy Lee beautifully.

London based singer/song writer, storyteller Catherine Lima has been delighting her audiences on the jazz circuit for over a decade. A charismatic and entertaining performer, she has a warm expressive tone which she uses expertly to create moods from sultry to joyous drawing on influences such as Anita O’Day, Peggy Lee, Ella Fitzgerald, Joni Mitchell, Patricia Barber and Barbra Streisand.

Catherine Lima has performed at the 606 Club, the Spice of Life, The Thorpe Bay Jazz Club, The Mill Hill Jazz Club, Keats House and the Culford Room at Cadogan Hall. She is also a vocalist with two big bands - the John Ongom Big Band and MOJO.

An accomplished songwriter Catherine’s album, 'Stories and Lies', which was launched in September 2017 to a sell out audience at the Arthouse Cinema, Crouch End, explores her personal take on the narrative behind the lyrics of songs. Catherine wrote four songs for this album, two of which are based on characters from classic novels and with a mix of swing, soulful ballads and latin rhythms, she tells a story with every song.
