Maundy Thursday Service ~ Tonight at 7pm We hope you will be a part of this solemn time of Worship & Communion. The featured Scripture is: Mark 15:33-39 for Mike's message: God At Calvary. | What is Maundy Thursday? Held each year on the Thursday before Easter, this is solemn time of Worship and Communion. The Service of Tenebrae (Tenebrae is the Latin word for ‘shadows’) is a prolonged meditation on Christ’s suffering. The Scripture readings trace the story of Christ’s passion, the music portrays his pathos, and the power of silence and darkness display the drama of this momentous event. As lights are extinguished, we ponder the depth of Christ’s suffering and death. This is a night of repentance over sins and a sustained reflection upon Christ’s sacrifice of atonement. A Note For Tonight's Scripture Readers Each Scripture passage has been printed out and will be waiting for you at the candle you will extinguish. A candle snuffer will be at the ready. Thank you. ~~~ | Easter Sunday Service ~ April 9, 2023 at 11am | The featured Scripture is: Mark 16:1-8 for Mike's message: The Empty Tomb. | Livestream at: CLC Website Recorded service posted to: CGCC Facebook & CLC Facebook Come Grow With Us! | Worshiping Together Spend Sunday mornings with us ~ in-person or online at 11:00am. "This is Easter week, and my mind has been reeling back and forth on what to write about today. So many things going through my mind and on my heart. I’m so grateful and thankful for everything Jesus did for me. I am so blessed beyond measure that He loves me. That is more than enough for me.” "The Holy Spirit was really working on the WORD for this week on my the way to work this morning and it is “REMEMBER.” When Jesus was on the cross, He didn’t have to “remember” us, but He did. When He was taking the stripes for our healing, He didn’t have to, but He did. When He wore the crown of thorns on His head as a mockery from the Romans – He did it without a word spoken. When the people spit on Him, He took it all for us because He had us on His mind. When He carried the cross all that way – every step He “remembered” all of us. When He was nailed to that cross, His hands and feet pierced, He was wounded for our transgressions. When the sword pierced His side, the pain He felt, He took for us. When He asked the Father to let the cup pass from Him, but He prayed God’s will not His, it was for us. When He spoke it is finished and the earthquake shook, the veil was torn – Hallelujah! That was for us. He made a way for everyone to enter into the Holy Spirit's presence. He did this because He “remembered” us. Oh Love of God – how rich and pure – priceless. We could never, ever repay for all we have been given. When we take Communion, we do that in “remembrance” of His great love. I never want us to fail to “remember” everything He has done for all of us. Yet while we were still sinners, He died for us. I pray your Easter week is blessed.” For I received from the Lord that which I also delivered to you: that the Lord Jesus on the same night in which He was betrayed took bread; and when He had given thanks, He broke it and said, “Take, eat; this is My body which is broken for you; do this in remembrance of Me.” In the same manner He also took the cup after supper, saying, “This cup is the new covenant in My blood. This do, as often as you drink it, in remembrance of Me.”. ~ 1 Corinthians 11:23-25 (NKJV) | April Worship ~ Online & In-Person Pastor Mike Hileman ~ Sundays at 11am Pastoral Intern Austin Young will be preaching on April 30, which is Benevolence Sunday. It was an awesome Friday! Crestview will be with us today this week, since GG and the church are closed tomorrow for Good Friday. Monday's beautiful weather had us outside to take care of the trees and branches knocked down by the recent crazy winds. Our crew worked so hard and still has more to take care of out on the property. They also had to replace the covers on the fields that are being prepped for planting. We are ready for calm days and no more wind wreaking havoc all around! Tuesday and Wednesday were packed with tasks. We worked with Mike Ashby to clean up more trees, made Easter decorations, shopped for and delivered the community service project items, and even went out to lunch for Bradly's birthday. (Happy Birthday, Bradly!!) We have been cleaning this morning. Crestview helped us to set up for this week's services and potluck breakfast. Everyone is putting on jackets right now to head outside and see what else can be accomplished.
