Boost For Wendy Kirkland Awarded 2nd Arts Council of England Touring Grant for New Album 'The Music's On Me'
Not content to rest on her laurels after the huge success of her debut 'Piano Divas', Wendy Kirkland is thrilled that Arts Council of England have approved funding for a new album tour. As Wendy and her band continue their extensive and exhaustive touring schedule she is still finding the time to write and record her follow-up album 'The Music's On Me' in June due for release 20 July although it will be available to crowdfunders two weeks in advance.
The album will be a combination of lyricised compositions from diverse artists such as Michael Brecker, Michel Petrucciani, Don Grolnick, Russell Malone, blended with original material written to complement these pieces. It will be melodic and accessible whilst being technically adventurous; a blend of swing, bebop, Latin and fusion, but always jazz.
'The Music's On Me' will include special guests Roger Beaujolais (vibraphone) and Tommaso Starace (saxophone) as part of the recording line-up, also including Pat Sprakes (guitar), Paul Jefferies (double bass) and Steve Wyndham (drums) who have been touring with her throughout 2018 and 2019.
The 2019 tour dates are shown above and Wendy is busy booking dates in the diary for 2020.
