XC Divisional Results

The Massachusetts cross-country divisional championship races were on November 13. Division 1 was held at the Wrentham Development Center, Division 2 at the Gardner Golf Course, and Division 3 at Stanley Park.

Here are the results for runners who trained in the GTD program this past summer. They represented the following schools: Andover, Beverly, Bishop Fenwick, Danvers, Essex Tech, Gloucester, Ipswich, Lynnfield, Melrose, Peabody, St Mary’s (Lynn), and Swampscott.

XC All-State Championship

The All-State race was held on November 20 at Wrentham.

In Division 1, an under-the-weather Logan Tracia battled to a 16:00 finish. Colin Kirn, a junior running xc for the first time, ran 16:31. In the girl’s race Molly Kiley was 3rd in 18:29 (3 seconds from 1st). Sarah DiVasta ran a strong 19:19.

In Division 2, Mack Eon, a senior running xc for the first time, was 4th in 16:02. Nick Poulin was 11th in 16:19. Kyle Kwiatek ran 16:29, Ellis Iurilli-Hough 16:36, Will Dugan 16:40, and Declan Smith 16:49.
In the Division 2 girl’s race, 7th grader Kelsey Kwiatek was 21st (out of 186 finishers) in 19:31.

Yes, we do some running at xc camp. And we do a lot more. If your summer program is running, and running, and running, you may want to try a program that really does get you in shape to compete in xc.

Coaches

Sue Kiley was named the MVC Division 1 Coach of the Year. Sue is the boys and girls xc coach at Andover High School. Sue is joined on the GTD xc coaching staff by Colette Madore (Central Catholic girls xc coach), Peter Cirafice (Peabody distance coach), Shannon O'Connell (currently running at Colby-Sawyer College), and Fernando Braz (Peabody xc and track coordinator).

Boston Marathon Training

The Boston Marathon is scheduled for April 18.
If you are running Boston or any other spring marathon, you will want to start your training in January (if you have not started already).
