YG Day of Service with GG

Last Friday, the Youth Group enjoyed working with Goodness Grows on our own property. The uncooperative weather kept us out of the gardens and inside the building, but we still accomplished tasks and had a good time together! The morning was spent working in the warehouse, cleaning and packing bags in the church, and - the favorite task of the day - baking cookies for the Shade Cloth Raising. As always, our kids make a great team!

Annual VBS Decoration Making Day

Thank you to everyone who came out and put their crafting skills to good use! We now have some orchard-ready fruit hanging in the cafe and plenty of newly made decorations at the desk, waiting to be hung up on July 8th. Our Youth Group kids and adults, the staff and clients of Goodness Grows, and two different mission trip groups all pitched in and made it a very special event. What an awesome day full of so many willing hands!

Growing Goodness

CSA days start markets are going strong...and signs of growth and goodness are all around! Take a walk through the greenhouses, visit the raised beds, hike out to the back gardens and fields, stop by the butterfly garden - appreciate the bounty and beauty of creation!

Shade Cloth Raising

A gigantic THANK YOU to all who helped cover our back greenhouse!!! We had a sizable crew of enthusiastic workers and the entire production took less than the predicted three hours. We could not have done it without each and everyone one of these wonderful friends! Now our berries and people are safely shaded from too much sun.

Austintown Farmers Market

Monday evenings from 5 - 8, at Austintown Township Park. This week's theme is Salute to the Troops! The Disabled American Veterans will be providing a raffle, patriotic music, and a color guard at 6:00 p.m. All proceeds from the raffle are to benefit the Disabled American Veterans. There will be free yoga at 6 pm, a healthy cooking demo, and plenty of Jumgle Jam and Juicy Jam for your July 4th picnics!

GG in the Community

In addition to our weekly booth at the Austintown Farmers Market, there are other places you can find us:

Whispering Pines ~ Every other Thursday we will be volunteering & visiting. Last Thursday, we had a great time interacting with the residents and helping with a planting event.

Mission Groups Rock!

We have had the pleasure of hosting two different groups this week. We enjoyed two busy days with Grace Presbyterian Church from Jenkintown, PA, full of weeding, demolition, decoration making, and more. They also baked up a storm and gifted us with cookies and muffins that we will be using at the Family Fun Fest. Then, First United Methodist Church from Springboro, OH, joined us for three days. They dove straight into construction, weeding, cooking, and helping wherever asked. Tomorrow they will wrap up their time with us. It is a true blessing to be able to meet and work with young people and their chaperones from other areas.

Coat & Clothing Drive

Reach Out

There are always mission and outreach opportunities right here at Common Ground and Goodness Grows! Stop in any day during the week to lend a hand on the property. There are always weeds to pull! Volunteer for VBS or invite a friend or family member to participate. Bring someone to church. There are countless ways to be involved and to spread the word. Together, we can accomplish a lot!

For I was hungry and you gave me food;
I was thirsty and you gave me a drink;
I was a stranger and you took me in;
I was naked and you clothed me;
I was sick and you visited me.
I was in prison and you came to me.

.....When you did it to one of the least of these my brothers and sisters,
you were doing it to me.

Matthew 25: 35-36, 40
