Our next performance is Sunday March 11th from 5-9 PM. This will be the band’s 2nd performance at the beautiful Grandel Theatre in the Grand Center Arts area (3610 Grandel Square, St Louis, MO, 63103). The Grandel Theatre is a 600-capacity, world-class performing arts venue operated by the Kranzberg Arts Foundation. The evening will start at 5 PM in The Dark Room (lobby of the Grandel Theatre) with the Parkway Central HS Jazz combo performing from 5-5:45. The full kitchen and bar will be open for listeners to sit and eat while they listen to the high school combo. Dave Dickey Big Band will start in the theater at 6 PM and intermission will feature the Parkway Central Jazz Band and Parkway Central Standard Time. The last set will be the Dave Dickey Big Band with several of the Parkway students sitting in with the band.

Handicap accessible for the venue. There is a ramp going into the entrance of The Grandel and also seating assigned inside the theater for any needs.

Dave Dickey Big Band is excited to have back again jazz vocal great Anita Jackson! Anita is a native of St Louis who has also lived and performed in New York for 12 years. She has recorded and performed as a background vocalist for such artists as Bette Midler (on her Grammy Award winning song for Song of the Year in 1991, "From a Distance", Patti Austin on "I Can Move this Mountain", Mariah Carey on "Anytime You Need a Friend", recording artists Chico DeBarge, Joe, Erykah Badu and most notably Cissy and Whitney Houston. Anita has also appeared as a featured vocalist with many jazz, gospel, and R&B artists, including leading her own bands.

Every time the Dave Dickey Big Band does public performances, they share the stage with a different youth band (middle school, high school, or college jazz ensemble). On Sunday March 11, Parkway Central Jazz Band and Parkway Central Standard Time will perform during intermission. Last set students from Parkway Central will be sitting in with the Dave Dickey Big Band. Parkway Central High School will also have a jazz combo performing in the Dark Room (Grandel Lobby) from 5-5:45.
