Hey y’all! It’s me, Brenda from Meal Planning Magic. You’re receiving this email newsletter because you signed up--maybe a while ago--to receive an extra weekly email where I share a little bit about meal planning, seasonal content I think you might enjoy and a little bit more about me.

Where did this last week go? It always seems like the month of January rushes by. Like many in the US, we experienced some extra cold weather this past weekend so spent some time enjoying a couple of movies and I also did some more decluttering of some of my closets. At some point I hope to share my minimalism in the kitchen tips with you all--I just need to stop and write them down! I've learned so much!

Read on to find some more weekly Meal Planning Magic inspiration!

On The Blog - Slow Cooker French Onion Soup and a Challenge!

We had some extra onions so this week I'm making Slow Cooker French Onion Soup. With only seven ingredients it is SOOOO easy and delicious too!

Pin it to Pinterest here to remember to make it later!

Don't forget the January Recipe Challenge going on in the Meal Planning Magic Community Table Group on Facebook. Each month I'll be announcing a challenge so we can share more of what we're making in our own kitchens and learn from each other. And there will be prizes for participation so if you haven't already joined the group, join the group now!! Right now there are very few entries so your chances of winning a $20 Amazon gift card are pretty good!

Weekly Menu Plan

Some of y'all may remember that for years, I would publish my weekly dinner plan on my blog every Monday. I stopped doing that a couple of years ago but I've heard from many people that they miss it! So I'm adding it back but to this email instead!
As I get more organized, I'll hopefully have breakfast, lunch or snack ideas included too.

Here's what's on our dinner menu plan for this week:

Week of January 20, 2019
Sunday - French Dip Sandwiches with Au Jus plus cut up veggies like carrots and cucumbers
Monday - Chicken, Feta and Spinach Sausage (from the new Sprouts store that opened up near us last week), plus Stovetop Brown and Wild Rice Pilafand a garden salad
Tuesday - Slow Cooker French Onion Soup, BBQ Crusted Chicken Tenders and garden salad
Wednesday - Parmesan Crusted Pork Chops with Asparagus Risotto (from Trader Joe's)
Thursday - Sausage Minestrone Soup -- trying a new recipe
Friday - YoYo (You're On You're Own-- usually leftovers or my teens are out with friends so I often don't plan much)
Saturday - Special occasion so no cooking for me!

What's on your menu plan this week? Reply here or share in our Meal Planning Magic Community Table Group.

What Caught My Eye (and Ears) This Week

I've decided to change this section into a collection of news stories, books or things I'm listening to that caught my eye (and ears) this week so you can get to know me a bit more and maybe offer some of your own suggestions! Here goes:
* How to Read More In 2019, According to Your Favorite Ideas -- lots of great tips here!
* Speaking of reading, my book club met to discuss the book Code Girls: The Untold Story of the American Women Code Breakers of World War II. I'll be honest, I would probably have never picked this book up on my own but I'm glad one of our members chose it because it was super interesting and I learned a lot about a piece of history I had no idea about before!
* If you're in the Houston area or planning a trip, be sure to check out this new Unicorn-Magical Dessert Bar opening up next month or so. It looks super fun!
* Marie Kondo-ing my kitchen: What a food writer learned from a total pantry re-org with a food-waste expert<-- I already do a few of these things and it's helped me so much to save time and money!
* Healthy High Calorie Snack Ideas for Underweight Kidsfrom Produce for Kids
* Did you hearGymboree is closing its stores? I used to love this store when my kids were little! Especially their outlet store! End of an era....
* A New Tactic In The War Against Plastic Waste
* Pair of Estes Park basketball players with special needs making huge impact on small town -- a feel good story!
