Bringing STEM Education to New Heights!

This past week, REMC1's Steve Kass, participated in the Civil Air Patrol's Teacher Orientation Program (TOP) flight. This is one of the many great opportunities the Civil Air Patrol Aerospace Education program provides K-12 educators for STEM Education. Steve experienced the math and science of aviation and the technology that makes flying possible firsthand. Knowledge and critical thinking skills around local geology and geography, weather science, and mathematical calculations were put to the test in this authentic learning experience. With the assistance of the experienced pilot, Steve even got to fly the plane! This was a great experience and we thank the Civil Air Patrol and Pilot Joe Masini for providing this opportunity.

(Learn more about the Aerospace Education program from our March Newsletter and view the aerial photos from Steve's T.O.P. flight here.)
