Welcome to Issue 24 of Phaser World

I know today is April 1st. A day most of us like to avoid the Internet. But I promise there are no 'joke' articles in this newsletter. Having said that, our featured game is Unikong, created by the Stack Overflow team and available to play on their site. It's probably only available today, so don't miss out.

There's also the fantastic Super Dungeon Flash, which has a great twist on the rogue-like mechanic. And Naval Battle is a 2016 update of an old Commodore VIC 20 game the author wrote when he was a kid. I love seeing Phaser used for things like this :)

Also the newsletter has now reached over 5000 subscribers! Thank you one and all for reading. If there is anything you'd like to see each week, please let me know.

Until next issue, happy coding! And don't forget to drop me a line if you've got any news you'd like featured.

Development Progress

This is a repeat of the article published in Issue 23. Next week it will be replaced with a progress report on our latest updates :)

Those of you who monitor the Phaser / Lazer GitHub repos will have seen there hasn't been much activity over the past few weeks. Equally the book Interphase 2 still isn't yet published. I thought it was about time I explained why, and to give you a status update.

The reason is that I took on a large client contract, and it has been consuming nearly all of my time - and then some. I'm sure you've been there before, those sorts of projects where actually going to sleep becomes a luxury. It was definitely like that in the final weeks.

I'm very pleased with what I've created though, and have learnt a lot while working on it. The project comes to an end next week, on April 1st. Most important of all though: it has bought in enough income to fund a solid 4 month block of development work on Phaser / Lazer. I have scheduled this out in the calendar, and will be treating the time as 'client' work. Except it will be for myself. This will take us well in to the summer, and I for one am itching to get back into the driving seat again.

My first task will be to go through the Phaser issues and work on the 2.4.7 release. This should only take a week, after which I can hunker down and split my time between finishing writing Interphase 2 and working on Lazer. We've been slowly going through Interphase 2 content here and there, but it needs a good period of dedicated time to get it finished off. And I'm glad I'll finally have that. I also cannot wait to get back into Lazer dev again.

So hang in there for a short while longer, and then be prepared for some serious activity across all fronts.

Phaser Releases

The current version of Phaser is 2.4.6 released on February 18th 2016.

Phaser 2.4.7 development is taking place in the dev branch on GitHub.
