It was a fantastic day of fellowship and fun (and food)! We hope you are enjoying your jars of apple-filled goodness. If you would like more apple butter for your house or for gifts, stop by the front desk and purchase a jar - $5 for a pint or $10 for a quart. All proceeds benefit Goodness Grows! Last Saturday was also our second Giveaway Day and we had 60 more visitors. It was certainly a successful community event again this year! | Missing in Action ~ Four Peach Pits We want to know if you got a prize in your jar, just like David Carrier did. Keep an eye out - you might find one of the missing peach pits! Why are there pits in our apple butter? We use those in the bottom of the copper kettle to keep the apple butter from sticking and burning. (GG saves them from our beautiful Huffman's peaches when making jam.) Don't eat the pit but do let us know if you found one! ~~~ | CGCC Congregational Meeting This Sunday Common Ground members and friends are invited to gather after Worship (12:15/12:30-ish) this weekend for a brief meeting to discuss what has been happening here and what comes next. Everyone is welcome and encouraged to attend and ask questions but only members of CG can actually vote. We would love to have you join us for this meeting - we haven't gathered like this in a while! As always, if you have any questions, please reach out to any member of Session. ~~~ | 2020 = 18 families, 2021 = 36 families and now, in 2022, we have our most ambitious project yet...55 families! Help us provide 55 households with Thanksgiving Meals this year by giving a financial donation or providing a turkey, anytime from now through November 13. Monetary donations may be put in either offering box or given online, but please add a note or use the memo line to designate it toward the Turkey Jive Drive. Drop your donations off Monday thru Friday from 9am-2pm or when you're here on Sundays for Worship. Turkeys may be taken to the chest freezer in the back hall or to the freezer in the kitchen. Thank you! ~~~ | Prayer For whom are you praying today? How can we pray for you? We are here to pray with and for you, anytime! Prayer needs sent by early Monday morning will be included in the weekly Joys & Concerns email. We are also glad to send out prayer requests and praise reports anytime throughout the week! | Encouragement Thank you to Marcia Kreps for sharing and Darla Smith for writing these weekly bits of encouragement. "What a fantastic week we are having this week in NE Ohio. Extended summer at its finest! I will take it! The longer it stays nice the better. I am pretty much an all-weather girl though, so it is all good to me. God created it all. Blessings do abound all around us every day! Thank you for all your goodness to us God. I pray you are all doing well." "My WORD for us this week spoke to me so loudly. “ACTION.” For us to do anything, we would need to take some kind of “action.” Speaking to myself here, if I expect to lose extra weight, I can’t just do nothing. I need to take “action” of eating healthier and moving more. If we want a closer, deeper relationship with Jesus, we need to take “action” and spend more time with Him. If we want to reach out to others with Jesus’ love and encouragement, we need to take “action” and engage with them. David in the bible didn’t just look at Goliath and he fell dead. No, he went to the brook, gathered some stones, and took aim with his slingshot and took “action” and God did the rest. When we take “action” to spend more time with the Holy Spirit, He shows up in a big way. What is the Holy Spirit speaking to us to take “action” on? Always listen for His precious instruction and guidance and our “action” will be blessed. Our “action” will never not produce great things if we are focused and zoned in on Him. READY, SET, “ACTION.” Let’s get busy.” "In all the work you are doing, work the best you can. Work as if you were doing it for the Lord, not for people. Remember that you will receive your reward from the Lord, which he promised to his people. You are serving the Lord Christ.”_ ~ Colossians 3:23-24 (NCV) | Lost & Found Have you had a hard time seeing lately? If so, perhaps these glasses belong to you! They are waiting for their owner at our front desk. | October & November Worship ~ Online & In-Person Pastor Mike Hileman ~ Sundays at 11:00am We're excited to welcome you to Worship, in church and online! We love having the students here and will certainly miss being able to learn and work alongside them. Now we can't wait to have them back in the spring!
