Youth Group

For youth in 5th grade & up

Last Sunday, we spent time pondering discretion and good decision making. We dove into the Bible, finding and discussing various verses. We also chose our Christmas project for 2019. This Sunday, we will be making posters for our project. (Christmas project info below in OUTREACH and MISSION OPPORTUNITIES section.)
See you Sunday at 6pm! Snack: Maci Vignon

We invite all the youth to join us for fun, fellowship, and learning this year,
most Sunday evenings from 6-7:30pm.

Deck the Halls with Boughs of Holly...

While it feels weird to be typing this on Halloween (Sorry, Peggy!), Christmas really is right around the corner. That means it is almost time to put up the tree and hang the ornaments! We will be doing it completely differently this year. We will not gather on the Saturday morning after Thanksgiving. Instead, we will meet during Youth Group time on that Sunday, December 1 from 6-7:30pm. Everyone is invited to come help us get ready for the season!

Congregational Meeting

"Without counsel, plans go awry, but in the multitude of counselors they are established."
Proverbs 15:22

Mark your calendars and stay for a meeting after Worship on Sunday, December 8.
With the ending of an old year and the coming of a new, we will be looking toward the
future of the church. Everyone's input is important. Whether you are a member or a friend
to Common Ground Church Community, here weekly or occasionally, you are invited to
stay and be part of the planning as we move forward. Come grow with us!

For I know the plans I have for you,” says the Lord. “They are plans for good and not for disaster,
to give you a future and a hope." Jeremiah 29:11

Soup & Baked Potato Bar Luncheon

Save the date ~ December 22
Join us for a special luncheon to thank Adam Shank and his family for being a part of our church family. As Adam's job responsibilities have changed and he is taking on more at his home church, North Lima Mennonite, Christmas Eve will be his last time as a regular preacher at Common Ground. Help us give the Shanks a happy send-off to show our love and appreciation! We will provide the baked potato bar and all the "fixin's" ~ sign up on the bulletin board to bring your favorite soup and/or Christmas cookies.

This week has been all about wrapping up the growing season and getting prepared for our long winter's nap! Our crew has stayed busy with projects such as winterizing the wet wall and clearing paths in the woods. Tucker and Keegan even found a snake going about his autumn business. Never know what creatures you will meet at GG. We would love to have you come meet them with us!

Tuesday's lunch was cooked this week by all our clients and Miss Rachel. They made soft tacos and Spanish rice. Yum! Tori brought in homemade pumpkin cookies for dessert. Thanks Tori!

We finished our season with our classroom friends this week. We appreciate all the hard work they put in at GG and look forward to their return in the spring!

Youth Group Christmas Project ~ Toy Drive for ACH

A gift of toys, games, or activity supplies can make a big difference to children and families spending time in the hospital. Children can learn and find comfort in play while dealing with the big emotions of being in the hospital. Games and toys foster a playful atmosphere, which has the ability to bring smiles to the faces of children and adults alike. Donating a wish list item to our Christmas Toy Drive is one way to bring cheer to a sick child’s day. Akron Children's Hospital is always in need of toys, craft supplies, and other items throughout the year for children from infancy through age 18. Grab a wish list in the Great Room or click HERE to view it online. Drop items off at the donation table anytime through December 15.

You can’t imagine the difference your gift can make to a hospitalized child & their family.

Ongoing Outreach/Mission Opportunity

Coat & Clothing & More Drive
Keep saving all your clothing and outerwear items for next year's giveaway. Tell your friends, family, neighbors, and co-workers that we will accept donations all year! Clothes for all ages and sizes needed, along with coats, bags, purses, shoes, housewares, books, toys...whatever you think might help someone in need. Drop items off in the collection barrel or take them up to the Green Room.

For I was hungry and you gave me food;
I was thirsty and you gave me a drink;
I was a stranger and you took me in;
I was naked and you clothed me;
I was sick and you visited me.
I was in prison and you came to me.

.....When you did it to one of the least of these my brothers and sisters,
you were doing it to me.

Matthew 25: 35-36, 40
