Worship Online

Third Sunday of Easter

Worship Online at the LELC YouTube Channel. Click here.

Worship will be posted by Sunday morning
You will find worship on: YouTube, LELC.org, and on our Facebook Page.

For the health and safety of our community of faith, the church council has made the decision to offer online worship temporarily instead of gathering physically on Sunday mornings in the church building. At this time, worship will be offered online March 29 and April 5. The council will continue to monitor the situation and re-evaluate as is prudent.

The Gospel for this Sunday:

Luke 24:13-35

Our Hearts Burn!

This week's gospel begins with two disciples walking to Emmaus, overcome with sadness, loss, and disappointment. They had hoped Jesus, who was crucified, would be the one to redeem Israel! Yet the risen Christ walks with them and then opens their eyes in the breaking of the bread. Each Sunday our hearts burn within us as the scriptures are proclaimed and Christ appears to us as bread is broken and wine is poured. The story of Emmaus becomes the pattern of our worship each Lord’s day.

Spring Clean Up Challenges

gardentools

It is necessary for us to cancel the Yard Clean Up Event that was scheduled for April 18. That doesn't mean we can't meet the challenge of caring for our grounds in another way! Instead of coming together all at once, we are inviting you to drop by the church to do a little bit of yard clean up when you can. Please follow Social Distancing protocol. If someone else is at LELC working in the yard, please plan to come back another time.
Volunteers are asked to bring their own yard tools since there won't be anyone at the church to give access to the church's yard tools. There will be a tarp on top of the blue sand barrel by the Hegg Ave. entrance, so the yard waste can be dragged over to the curb on Hegg Ave. for the city to pick up. Thanks. Jeff

personal-care-kit

Saturday, May 16, 2020; 1:00 to 3:00 p.m. (Rain or Shine)

The Peace and Justice Mission is collecting items for Lake Edge to send to Lutheran World Relief. Our goal is 150 kits to be collected by the end of May. To help reach our goal we are planning a drive-up service for you to drop off donations. The following items are needed to complete the kits:

19 Bath Towels (light to medium weight, 20” x 40” to 52” x 27”) (dark colors)
35 Nail Clippers
6 Toothbrushes (adult size)
25 Combs (sturdy)
103 Bars of Soap (Bath-Size, 4 oz to 5 oz)

Peace and Justice Mission members will be in the parking lot to receive donations. Please keep in mind it is important for everyone to maintain social distancing. There will be 5 well-marked boxes near the church entrance doors, one for each item needed. You can choose to get out of your vehicle and place in the appropriate box, (one vehicle at a time) or we will collect your donation through your window using a pole to keep us six feet from one another.

If there is a surplus of a an item at the end of the round-up, it will be used for next year’s kits. Please help us complete our goal and swing on over to the Lake Edge Parking lot on May 16! It will be so good to see you -- even from a distance!
Thanks! -- Peace and Justice Mission
