The evolution of modern yoga, like most creative things, has taken so many paths, twists and turns and now it is really incredible there are all these different forms of yoga so there is something to suit everyone from those look to find peace with a slow practice to those needing to keep going, keep moving to even begin to still the mind, to those looking to heal aches and niggles.

Do you know when you are practicing yoga you are practicing an ancient physical, mental and spiritual practice that originated in India? The word ‘yoga’ derives from Sanskrit and means to join or to unite, symbolizing the union of body and consciousness. It just feels so good, and you will always feel better after a practice.

So how have you woken up today?

Yoga in Earlsfield

For your beautiful body

Every single person in my class last week had a 'dodgy knee' or had experienced a knee issue. What?!! Knees are just the piggy in the middle though. A cause of knee issues can be tight hips. So this week we are focusing on releasing the hips. In fact tight hips are the cause of so many ailments especially back pain.

Join us this week for a big release.

sumer chill out workshop

Summer Chillout Workshop

Saturday 29th June

16:30-18:30 with Hayley Fardell

Wimbledon

Long summer days mean hot and humid weather which according to ancient Ayurvedic principles leads to an increase in heat and humidity within the body. This can cause energetic imbalances affecting our physical, mental and emotional states. You might notice that as the temperature rises you feel irritable, lethargic, have trouble sleeping or maybe experience digestive issues. These symptoms are all linked to excess heat, or "Pitta" energy, in the body.

In this workshop we will focus on cooling practices to counteract the heat and restore our internal energetic balance using a combination of Yin and Restorative yoga postures, pranayama and guided meditation.

Take some time to chill out and unwind with two whole hours of deeply calming yoga designed to refresh the mind, body and spirit.

Suitable for all except during pregnancy.

Sound Bath

Saturday 6th July

16:30-18:30 with Doretta Natalucci

Wimbledon

Combining gentle movement with the sounds of singing bowls and gong allow Doretta to transport you to a deep state of relaxation and meditation.

You know when music can be a mood enhancer. Becoming completely immersed in a great song and feeling the music can lift your spirits or shift your mood. Both individually and with the energy of the whole room. Sound baths work in the same way, the sound creates a vibration in the body that can make energetic shifts in emotion and cuts through mental chatter to move us into stillness and meditiaion. Sound has the ability to makes shifts in depression, fatigue, loneliness, anger and fear and has been used for 1000's of years for healing.

We think sound bath is a magical experience but to really understand that you need to try it for yourself!

Eleanor July workshop

Hip Health: Stability and Mobility Workshop

Saturday 13th July

16:30-18:30 with Eleanor Forder

Wimbledon

In this workshop, we'll talk a bit about the physiology of joint and soft tissue health, including what actually makes up what we call 'the hip'.

We'll move on to various mobility and stability exercises from within and outside of the yoga system. We'll assess specifically where your dysfunction may be coming from, so you'll know how to work towards improving your physical health.

By the end of the workshop, you'll have a better understanding of the optimum function of your hips, and how your movement practice can help you to get there.

The hips are the centre of the body, and therefore can either create or compensate for a lot of dysfunction. For example, back pain can be caused by hip weakness, as the back compensates for the lack of functional hip musculature.

Hip stiffness can similarly cause compensatory hypermobility in surrounding structures, leading to risk of injury.
