Aiken in October - continued edition

AIKEN CITY LIMITS FESTIVAL
It's countdown to all things music in Aiken! Not only will you discover the charm of this beautiful city, but you'll enjoy the sounds of awesome music everywhere you go. Here are 10 reason why you will want to join the fun at Aiken City Limits.

What it’s All About #ConnectAiken
It’s all about the collaboration. It’s all about that Aiken atmosphere. It’s all about a good time and good music in Aiken. Throughout the weekend of October 18th-21st you will find music on every street corner in Aiken.

Aiken City Limits is a city-wide music festival that started in 2017 when a few major music events throughout Aiken shared the same weekend. The organizers of those events were determined to collaborate and create a weekend where the whole is greater than the sum of its parts. With help from Aiken Downtown Development Association and The City of Aiken Tourism Department, we reached our goal to show that Aiken can support a diverse and wide spread weekend of individually run events. There is a true love for Aiken during ACL as families and friends, young and old, ride the City Trolley around to attend the music events. There is something for everyone to enjoy as we see The City of Aiken connect through music.

Aiken City Limits enhances the considerable music reputation Aiken already has through events like Aiken Bluegrass Festival, Amp the Alley, Aiken Music Fest, Aiken’s Oktoberfest, Joye in Aiken, and all of our other cultural offerings. The 2018 Aiken City Limits continues this collaborative approach to connect vibrant neighborhoods, diverse music genres, and music lovers throughout the city limits. This year will feature a stellar line up of events that include local and national touring musicians.

"Get out of the sweaty city for horses, cocktails, and steak.

Labor Day does nothing to change the late-summer air in Charleston, which can feel like a warm washcloth on the back of the neck. Despite school starting, visitors still come in droves to snap pics and sweat alongside residents. It’s hot, and too easy to get irritable. The South Carolina midlands town of Aiken has been an escape for Charlestonians since the Gilded Age, so crank up the AC in the car and head off the highway. Main street strolling and shopping, horse racing culture, Gilded Age architecture, and a bourbon cocktail or two (if you desire) await." For full article, read here.

Fall is in the air - don't miss these Fall events!

Fall Steeplechase

Aiken's Fall Steeplechase event is a wonderful way to spend a day seeing the horses fly, spending time with friends, and enjoying the beautiful Aiken weather while tailgating!

Western Carolina Sate Fair

Everyone loves a classic American tradition of going to a state fair and for many it means food. The Western Carolina State Fair will be back with the annual food affair of sno-cones, funnel cakes, and a variety of caramel apples. Experience foods you've never seen or tasted before. It could be a deep fried cloud cake or a chocolate covered cheesecake on a stick. It seems the popularity is surrounding anything that is on a stick. You can get chicken or beef on a stick. Maybe a hearty turkey leg or a corn dog is more to your liking. It’s the type of event where it’s excusable to eat junk food!

*This is not a complete list of events. Please visit our Festivals and Events page or our calendar for a full list.
