Kick off the holidays with Sweet Seasons, Forest Acres’ signature FREE annual holiday event! Atop Richland Mall, you'll find family fun and entertainment, great food, door prize give-aways and more. The event goes from 5:30 until 7:30 with the tree lighting and Santa’s entrance at 5:45. Enjoy free Shutterbooth photos with Santa, face painting by Sarah Dippity, balloon art with Joey Young, magic by John Tudor, hula hoops with Lunatrix, a FunFlix movie and music from The Carillon Carolers, Island Close By steel drums, AC Flora Jazz Ensemble, dance by Unbound and more. Annual holiday promotion to encourage folks to shop at local stores before heading out of town or online. Participating merchants will display a hot pink and black flyer in their stores. For each $25 a customer spend with the merchant the customer is given a ticket to be entered in the weekly drawings for $50 cash. Columbia’s annual Sing-Along Messiah will once again be celebrated in the beautiful, historic sanctuary of Washington Street UMC on Monday, December 21st at 7:00 PM. Messiah, by G.F. Handel, is perhaps the best known and most popular sacred oratorio ever written. In its entirety, it is comprised of 53 individual selections presented as orchestral symphonies, choruses, recitatives, and arias, divided into 3 sections. Sing-Along Messiah includes all of Section 1 and “Hallelujah” from Section 2, so be sure you don’t miss out on this musical gift from Washington UMC!
