weekly-update 2x

Dear Friend,

Thanksgiving can be a tough time for those of who acknowledge the harm done to turkeys and Native people. We want to support you this holiday season. If you’re heading to a family holiday gathering, you may find this piece, Is it ok if I eat meat in front of you? by CAA co-founder Unny Nambudiripad helpful.

We are deeply grateful for the role you play in creating change and healing. We had a wonderful time with the 100+ people who attended the Twin Cities ThanksLiving celebration as well as the CAA Friendsgivings in Duluth and St. Cloud!

We’re also thankful that CAA exceeded its goal for Give to the Max Day and won a Golden Ticket worth $500. Thanks to all those who stepped up to support our work on behalf of the animals and to the anonymous donor who matched contributions 3X!

We have a brand new “Go Vegan” design in clothing, hats, mugs, etc. that you can see below. We are also bringing back old favorite designs from the past! Just in time for the holidays! Go to exploreveg.org/gear by December 7 to purchase for yourself and for others. You can even make suggestions to friends and family.

We wish you well this holiday season and appreciate the ways you make the world a better place for all!

CAA 2022 gear trent

Meet Trent Nelson—CAA Volunteer and tee shirt inspiration

Trent has been volunteering with CAA for about a year in a variety of roles. He started two years ago after trying a plant-based diet to support his daughter. The vegan diet seemed to help with his running stamina. This inspired further exploration and he connected with CAA at a potluck. Trent is now excited to share the benefits of a compassionate lifestyle through his volunteer work.

Trent is passionate about being vegan and helping others. He says, “The biggest argument for me, the thing that converted me, was the truth that we cause suffering by our normal eating habits, and we can opt-out of that suffering just by choosing other things to eat. Once making that choice, the health impacts are also very inspiring. And it's also wonderful to know that it's the right thing to do for the earth.”

In the past year, Trent has helped with potlucks, postering for VegFest, and staffing a table at Open Streets. He is currently assisting to organize the chili cook-off in February. “I’m a big chili fan, so I am very excited for that!”

When not volunteering for CAA, Trent works with a mental health support group and is a runner. He recently used a marathon to spread the word about the positive impact of being vegan. Trent worked with CAA to develop a t-shirt with the inspirational quote, “Love animals? Love the earth? Love people? Go vegan!”

As you will read below, this shirt was so well received that CAA has decided to make it more widely available. It has been slightly redesigned and included in our upcoming merchandise sale. Join Trent in getting our message out!

2022 CAA Merch Sale is on!

Winter gear sales run from 11/23 until 12/7. Each year CAA sells merchandise with our logo and vegan friendly messages. It is a great way to spread the word about our work while looking sharp! It also helps bring in money to support CAA in saving animals from lives of suffering.

The sale is just in time for gift giving season! The tough part may be picking which gear you want! This year we have a new design, inspired by our volunteer Trent Nelson (see story above).

We are also bringing back popular designs from the past including: “Eat Beans Not Beings”, “20th Anniversary Veg Fest” and “Friends Not Food!” These designs are available in T-shirts, long sleeve shirts, hoodies & crewnecks, tank tops, beanies, and mugs. So much to choose from!

Check out the options at exploreveg.org/gear. Make your purchases quickly as the sale ends on 12/7 (so items can get here by the holidays). Share the link so your friends and family can also get in on the opportunity. And maybe drop some hints for yourself!
