Greetings!

We all have seasons to endure and I've been in one. Surgery, complications, then a respiratory tract infection that took four rounds of medicine to get through and during which I cracked a crown--right up front--which couldn't even be seen to until the infection had cleared. Oral surgery and an incisional hernia surgery (coughing from the respiratory tract infection) are in my near future. But, I won. I'm upright and mending and doing well. I'm even catching up on email and (can you believe it?) writing again! Very happy about that.

I've spent a lot of time watching the grass grow and my lovely irises bloom. I totally missed out on even a single ball game, which you know has not been a pleasing thing. But that's okay, too. I won. I'm upright and mending and doing well. (Yes, that's a deliberate repeat. It's been my mantra daily.)

On the upside, I'm back on the treadmill walking which means I'm more energetic and reclaiming control. (Please, let me enjoy the illusion!) On the far upside, during my respite, Jessica has worked wonders (with very little help from me) and got the new Clean Read Editions of HER PERFECT LIFE and DUPLICITY published in digital and print!

Memorial Day weekend is upon us. And there's no better time to put HER PERFECT LIFE on sale at Amazon and Barnes & Noble. This is a special book to me, and I hope it will be to you also. The heroine is a POW who was declared (and supposedly verified to be) dead six years ago. She wasn't. Now she's finally discovered, rescued and she returns home. Only home isn't there anymore. Her husband's remarried, her kids are strangers to her and she to them, and her former co-pilot feels so intensely guilty because he was rescued and she wasn't that… well, let's just say she's got to rebuild her whole life, and she's got to do it not knowing if the flashbacks plaguing her are real or imagined. Are they memories of things that actually happened to her while in captivity or are they her deepest fears? Poor Katie doesn't know.

When writing this story, I couldn't get to it fast enough. I didn't just want to know what happened to her. I needed to know what happened to her. Then and now. And I wondered the whole time if any one, ordinary woman--even a war hero--had enough left after all that to rebuild anything much less her perfect life.

But you know, our spirits respond in crises and we do things we never dreamed we could or would. Our hearts, even when shattered, find a way to mend. Amazing really. I was deeply moved by Katie's story. Touched in ways few books have touched me. And I hope that you will be, too.**
