On Monday, October 2nd, Her Excellency the Right Honourable Julie Payette was sworn in as Canada's 29th Governor General.

Officially, Canada's Governor General serves as Her Majesty the Queen's representative, presides over the swearing-in of the prime minister, the chief justice and cabinet ministers, summons and dissolves Parliament, delivers the speech from the throne, and gives royal assent to acts of Parliament. The Governor General can also offer valued counsel to the head of Government

Please Pray for Canada's new Governor General, her family and staff as she steps into this new role.

This past Sunday, Jagmeet Singh was elected to replace Hon. Tom Mulcair as leader of the federal NDP. The Sikh lawyer-turned-MPP from Ontario has made history as the first visible minority ever to lead a major Canadian party.

In recent years, the federal NDP have stood firmly in support of abortion access in Canada and all MPs voted in favour of Transgender Bill C-16 and against Bill C-225, Cassie and Molly's Law. However, many NDP MPs have also been vocal opponents of the Liberal government's attempts to bring unsupported sweeping changes to democratic systems and procedures. They have also been strong advocates for First Nations and Aboriginal Peoples.

Most importantly, please join us in praying for Hon. Jagmeet Singh as he transitions into his new role as NDP leader. Let's pray that he and the entire NDP have hearts, minds, and policies that align with the heart of God for the nation of Canada.

On Tuesday, Oct. 3rd, Rachael Harder's nomination to Chair of the Committee on the Status of Women was voted down and Conservative MP Karen Vecchio was successfully nominated to the position.

We are so grateful to Ms. Harder for the grace with which she handled this situation and most of all for how she has faithfully stood for righteousness in Parliament with her words, actions, and votes. Thank you to all who e-mailed and telephoned the FEWO Committee and Ms. Harder to voice your support for her and disapproval of how her nomination was handled.

We do not view this as a loss. What happened in the FEWO committee was a significant moment which demonstrated to the nation and to the Church in Canada the lack of diversity and the dishonour shown when it comes to women and individuals who stand for righteousness and for the pre-born.

Please pray for MP Vecchio as she fulfills her new role as Chair of the FEWO Committee and that MP Harder would sense the delight and encouragement of the Lord for all of her hard work. Please pray that the Church in Canada would awaken to the need for more faith-filled and righteous individuals to run for office and help to shift the nation towards godliness.
