A Great Teacher

******New Years is usually the time of year we make personal resolutions. We commit to all types of actions to become a better and improved version of ourselves. Let's make a resolution, now at the start of a new school year, to improve our professional lives. Let's resolve to become Great Teachers!
There is no simple formula for becoming a great teacher. It takes desire, commitment and experience. The characteristics of a great teacher are not a mystery. We have all known great teachers. We have all seen great teachers. Let's resolve to develop and demonstrate the qualities we have seen in great teaching.

Passion: **Great teachers have a deep passion for their subject.

Commitment: **Great teachers believe all children can learn.

Responsibility: **Great teachers take responsibility for the success of their students.

Loving: **Great teachers love kids and truly care about their students.

Joyful: **Great teachers make learning joyful!

Ed-Forums

N.E.S.C.O. is planning a series of Educational Forums designed to promote professional development, networking opportunities and discussion about important education topics. Experienced teachers, new teachers and education majors are all welcome to attend any N.E.S.C.O. EdForum.

Each EdForum will be held in a different location and feature a guest speaker who is an experienced leader in the field of education. NESCO will begin holding EdForums in Suffolk County, New York at three (3) sifferent locations: C.W.Post/L.I.U. In Brookville, Family Melody Center in Patchogue and Panara's in Babylon.

Join us at our next EdForum. The topic is "Teaching Today: Becoming the Candidate of Choice". Our guest speaker will be education author, retired Director of Fine Arts and Professor of Music Education, Joseph Pergola. (Dates and Times to be announced)
