Junior Spotlight

Samantha Eichman

Sam Eichman

Hi, I'm Samantha Eichman and I've been playing tennis since I was super little. I'm a sophomore at RHS and very recently I competed in Yakima, Washington for the PNW sectionals. Through tennis I have made wonderful friends in different areas and gotten many opportunities to travel around Oregon and sometimes other states that I would not have received otherwise.

Outside of tennis I like to watch Netflix, hike, read, hang out with my friends, and take Polaroids. One of my goals for my tennis career is to try and receive a college scholarship. I'm really really exited for my future and hope to play tennis until I'm 90.:)

Houskeeping Notes

Guests

Please remember that when you have a guest playing with you, please let the office know. Guests also need to sign a liability waiver to have on file, they can do this at the front desk or by filling out the guest form located outside the office door and placed in the drop box.

List all Players on your Court Reservation

Please remember to list all players playing with you on your court reservation. If they are not in the system, that means they are guests and the office needs to know so they can be added and charged the correct fee. If the guest does not pay, the guest fee falls to the responsibility of the member inviting the non-member.

Payments for Classes & Clinics

When leaving payment for a class or clinic please do not leave cash at the front desk (if no one is there) or in the drop box without putting what it was for and who it was for. There is a drop box with envelopes next to the office door for your convenience.

Garage Doors

With the weather getting nicer everyday, the 2 garage doors are being opened more often. If you are the last one out in the evening and the doors are open, please make sure to close and lock them.

Balls left on court

Please remember to pick all tennis balls off courts (inside or outside) when you are done playing; yes, even those behind the curtains. If you would like to recycle them, there is a receptacle near the front door.

Ball Machine

After using the ball machine, please remember to clean up any ball fuzz left on the court, put away the ball machine and pick up all the balls.

Pro Tip of the Month

The Inner Speech of a Champion

I’m working hard to be prepared. I’m focusing on creating the mentality that takes me to the top. I’m expecting the best. I’m winning twice; first in my own mind and then in competition. I’m achieving my goals regardless of the circumstances I face. Every day, in many ways, I'm creating opportunities. I’m having the will to win and my actions are showing it.

All I entertain in my mind are thoughts of greatness, determination, and courage. I’m on the path that is leading me to those points where preparation meets opportunity.

I’m believing in myself; yes, I’m maintaining myself on the path, everyday doing what I need to do. I’m acting with discipline, with persistent optimism, dedication, attentiveness to detail, and the willingness to do everything possible to be prepared for the challenges of competition.

I’m practicing with specific goals in mind, knowing exactly what I need to do in order to improve. I’m keeping in top physical condition, taking care of my body by eating healthy, drinking plenty of water, sleeping enough, and nurturing my mind and spirit with thoughts of hope and happiness. I’m seeing myself achieving my goals long before I get there; I’m creating a powerful inner force that fills my heart with joy and confidence.

I’m focusing on the things within my control and ignoring those I have little or no control over. Instead of blaming others and finding excuses for the results of my performances, I’m taking full responsibility for them. I’m recognizing my mistakes and looking for ways to avoid them in the future: I’m learning from them. When I do something great, I celebrate it and congratulate myself. I’m forgiving with myself when I make mistakes, and generous when I achieve my goals, because I see life as a celebration and as an opportunity to grow.

I’m breathing deeply, inhaling peace and happiness. With every breath I’m taking, I’m filling my mind and body with harmony. This harmony is integrating my mind and my body into a unique source of energy. With every breath I’m taking, this source of energy is penetrating deeper and deeper into my soul, where my inner power lies. My inner power is like a gentle fire. And this gentle fire is growing more and more with every breath I’m taking.

When competing, I’m focusing on the here and now, playing one moment at a time. All that matters to me is what is happening at the present time, the succession of events that occur moment by moment. I’m playing with great alertness, determining the slightest adjustments needed to correct any mistakes and celebrating by winning the real battle that is within myself, between my doubts and fears and the belief in myself.
