Please Keep Giving

Even with the best laid plans... things sometimes go awry. Plain and simple, the BIG Day of Giving (BIGDoG) website couldn't handle the outpouring of generosity. Early on, it sputtered, spurt, and flat out had a meltdown, unable to accept donations. (Ever had one of those days? LOL) It proved that the generosity in the Placer/Sacramento region is laudable.

But wait, before we go to Plan B.....Today our volunteers were set up at our Thrift & Gift store in Auburn. With us were two recently rescued dogs: Bones and Bristol. They were there BECAUSE of the BIGDoG event, and BECAUSE of BIGDoG, Bones and Bristol might have a new home!!! In our way of thinking, today could very well be the best day ever, regardless of the amount of money we didn't raise.

So, on to Plan B, right? Money makes the world go round, and Bones & Bristol still need their veterinary bills paid, so we want you to know, the BIG Day of Giving has been extended until 3PM TODAY. You can make your donation directly to our website. (Especially if they don't get it back up perfectly.) After all, it's the animals that you want to support, and because HSSF is an all-volunteer organization, your donations directly benefit animals like Bones & Bristol. But don't worry, we'll be sure to report your donations to the BIGDoG event so they will be included in the tally.

One thing is clear – generosity is strong here in our region!

We're still confident that with your help, we can reach our goal of $5,000.

Thank you for your generosity.

Help Us Protect Animals in 2016

The Humane Society of the Sierra Foothills (HSSF) enforces laws that protect animals from abuse. Due to their life-threatening conditions, animals that are rescued or legally "seized," must be treated by veterinarians, and often require special diets to reach optimal health. Before they can be adopted out, some require professional training or rehabbing as well - all of which is expensive! We are funded solely by donations, grants and sales from our Used Book Store and new Thrift & Gift Store in Auburn (in the Raley's shopping center cited above). As an independent nonprofit organization, we are not affiliated with any other entity, and we do not receive any government funding. All donations are tax-deductible.
