August 2017 Update

It's back-to-school time here in the Carolinas and we are also getting ready for the solar eclipse on August 21st. A total eclipse will happen in Greenville and our team is looking forward to this unique event. Here is a map of the path of totality.

Big News! Our race course is almost finalized! We hope to have the final course route, leg distances, and elevation changes posted in the next couple of months. There are going to be some really cool runs for all of you.

Our first leg of the course is going to be a crowd-pleaser. Starting at Highland Brewing Company, runners will run through a city park and then jump on the Mountains to Sea Trail for 1.5 miles. After the trail, runners will cross the Blue Ridge Parkway and then head towards Transition #1 at AC Reynolds Middle School. Just shy of a 10K, this leg will be one to remember, especially for those starting in the dark! Route stats below or click here to view our first leg!

Cheers!

Local Brew

Hillman Beer
Hillman Beer is located near Biltmore Village in Asheville and will be one of our transition sponsors during the race! One of the newest breweries in Asheville, they have transformed an old building into a wonderful space for a cold craft beer and upscale bar food. With 15 brews on tap, there is an option for everyone.

Who will be the HillMan (or HillWoman) runner for your team?

Favorite Brew: Double IPA - At 8.8% ABV, this behemoth will not dissappoint. This hopbuster has loads of passionfruit, citrus, pineapple and a bit of pine to round it off.

Good Eats

Pita House
Located a few miles outside of downtown, the Pita House is known as one of the best and most affordable places to eat in Greenville. Opening in 1987, the Pita House has been serving daily fresh made Middle Eastern dishes to thousands. Pro Tip: Bring cash, no credit cards are accepted.

Our favorites:
Middle Eastern Gyro Plate - A portion large enough for two comes with a pita, hummus, three falafel, veggies and huge portion of gyro shawarma. Also, order a couple of the house made pastries for dessert.

Transition Sponsor

Fletcher Community Park & Blue Ghost Brewing Company
Runner transition #3 will be located at Fletcher Community Park in Fletcher, NC and is sponsored by Blue Ghost Brewing Company. Runners will enter the rear of the park and run along the Cane Creek Greenway for about a 1/2 mile before the transition area.

Located less than three miles from the transition, Blue Ghost Brewing Company was one of our first race supporters and they are thrilled to be at this transition area near their brewery.
