COLOR RUN 5K – SUNDAY, OCTOBER 5

RIPTA will detour Routes 1, 3, 21, 30, 33, 34, 35, 50, 51, 52, 54, 55, 56, 57, 60, 66, 72, 78, 92 and the R-Line to accommodate the Color Run 5K. While this detour is in effect, Bus Stops L, M, N, and O will be temporarily relocated from Parcel 12 to Fulton Street. Click here for details.

COLUMBUS DAY FESTIVAL ON FEDERAL HILL – SATURDAY, OCTOBER 11 – MONDAY, OCTOBER 13

RIPTA will detour Route 92 (RI College/Federal Hill/East Side) to accommodate the Columbus Day Festival. The Route 92 detour will be in effect from the first trip of the day on Saturday until the last trip of the night on Monday. Click here for details.

RIPTA CELEBRATES COLUMBUS DAY

RIPTA will operate all regular fixed-route buses and trolleys on a Sunday/Holiday schedule on Monday, October 13, 2014 in observance of Columbus Day. RIPTA offices, including the Photo Identification and Ticket Sellers Offices in Kennedy Plaza, will not be staffed on the holiday. Click here for details.

RIPTA AND AARP HOST FREE “HOW TO RIDE RIPTA WORKSHOP”

RIPTA and AARP will host a free “How to Ride RIPTA Workshop” at Pilgrim Senior Center, 27 Pilgrim Parkway, Warwick, RI on Friday, October 10, 2014 at 10:30AM. During this workshop, RIPTA will teach seniors the basics of using public transportation including how to use RIPTA’s Flex Service. RIPTA Photo ID staff will be on site to process Senior/Disabled Bus Passes for qualified applicants. Those interested in obtaining a RIPTA Senior Bus Pass are asked to bring $25.00 cash to the session and proof of being over 65 years of age.

This free How to Ride RIPTA Workshop program, developed by AARP and RIPTA, is designed to empower the senior community to mobilize and remain independent. All attendees of this travel training program will receive a free step-by-step “How to Ride Guide.” This guide contains information on how to read a bus schedule, fares, senior discounts and more.
