One Door Closes, Another Door Bangs Opens

Bang Bang owners Kate & Alex Wood are taking over the former Cha Cha Cha! location on Fremont and opening a new restaurant called Wonderly. Since we already can't get enough of the cocktail creations at Bang Bang, we volunteer as tributes to help perfect the new drink recipes at Wonderly. Opening January 2019.

Two for One

Cha Cha Cha! owner Javier Hurtado may have closed his Fremont restaurant, but he is still going strong. In fact, he is in the midst of opening two new locations (Cascade Station and Lake Oswego); marketing a line of salsas; & working with Base Camp Brewing on a tropical IPA called Unapologetic. Best of all, he is expanding the catering kitchen behind his former Fremont location so we will still have him in the neighhood.

Sum-Things Up

A math-only learning center has put out a shingle at 4230 NE Fremont in the red building by Wildhearts Wellness. Mathnasium tutors children from grade K thru Calculus using the Mathnasium Method. Stop in and say hello, check out their fun space and start thinking like a mathematician.

SHARE THE LOVE

Get Matched Today

Make a tax deductible donation to help finish a native plant and bird habitat at Wilshire Park by November 4 and the Backyard Bird Shop on Fremont will match your contribution (up to a total of ($1,500). To support this grassroots NatureSpace project, visit Friends of Wilshire Park.

Season's Feedings

This month Green Dog Pet Supply is supporting the Feral Cat Coalition’s annual pet food drive for cats. Stop in and buy a 5 or 13 pound bag of First Mate's Grain Friendly Cat Food (Green Dog is selling them at cost for $8.16 or $16.99) and it will be donated to people who bring in feral cats to be spayed or neutered. For every 12 bags sold, First Mate and Green Dog will each donate 2 more bags. Meow do you like that?

Can Do

Beneficial Bank at 4020 NE Fremont will be collecting non-perishable food items for the Oregon Food Bank from November 1-16. Deposit some canned food items when you deposit your next check and help feed the mounting number of hungry families in Oregon.

Pay it Forward

Maura Dawgert of Wild Hearts Wellness likes promoting the idea that by keeping yourself healthy with acupuncture and movement, you can also help others get the healthcare and support they need. And this is how she is doing it. For the month of November, Wild Hearts Wellness is donating proceeds from all treatments; and yoga, pilates and Nia classes to the Flint Child Health and Development Fund. Get a treatment and help kids with long-term lead exposure. That's a win-win! Check out their classes & treatments.
