About the workshop

Right now, participating in online dance classes is a nourishing and engaging lifeline for people living with Parkinson's around the world. But the demand for online classes won't necessarily end after the pandemic recedes. Research from the University of Manchester indicates that 80% of participants would like to be able to access both in-studio and online classes on a regular basis in the future.

In this interactive workshop, live streaming expert Nadine Shelton, along with Dance for PD staff Maria Portman Kelly and David Leventhal, will share insights and good practices related to the technical side of teaching online.

Unsure of how to achieve the best camera angles, lighting or best quality audio? Interested in learning Zoom hacks? Curious about streaming on YouTube? This workshop will cover a general overview of streaming hardware and delve into the nitty-gritty of how to make interactive and streaming video technology work best for a community dance class. With ample time for questions, this workshop aims to share knowledge that helps you feel more confident using the technology that is destined to remain a powerful source of connection and engagement for many months and years ahead.

Join us as Nadine, Maria and David sharpen our digital toolkits so that we put those nagging technical issues aside and focus on the artistry of teaching.
