The Health Wagon’s mission is to provide compassionate, quality health care to the medically underserved people in the Mountains of Appalachia. Our values are inclusiveness, community outreach, collaboration, spirituality and empowerment.
Let us tell you The Health Wagon story. Our average patient is 38 years old. Ninety-eight percent of our patients are uninsured. Seventy percent of them have an income of less than $20,000 annually, despite working multiple jobs. This means they make too much money to qualify for Medicaid, but not enough to afford private insurance. Our patients live in desperately poverty-stricken rural Appalachia, where they can’t afford to go to the doctor but can’t afford not to. The mobility of our health clinic means we are able to fill the gap, whether they are in line at the food bank or at their job, we bring healthcare to them.

Volunteer OR Nurses Needed

We have a GI EGD/COLONOSCOPY clinic scheduled tentatively May 10 and May 11 2018. We need EXPERIENCED OR nurses or techs who would be interested in volunteering or contract labor for these 2 days! Please contact Dr. Paula Hill-Collins, NP or Ashley Fleming RN, BSN for details at 276-328-8850.

VOLUNTEER DENTIST NEEDED

The Heath Wagon is in desperate need of a volunteer dentist and dental assistant. Our current dentist will be retiring soon and we have a dental waiting list with hundreds of desperate patients needing assistance. If anyone is interesting in volunteering please contact Haley at 276-328-8850.

Dr. Teresa Tyson and Dr. Paula Hill Presented at the American Association of Nurse Practitioners Health and Policy Conference. Rachel Helton, Director of Development accompanied them to advocate for Nurse Practitioners and our free clinic. Thank you Shelia Collins for helping to give out information about the Health Wagon. Prayers for our staff as they travelled back to Richmond tonight for early meeting at the Virginia House of delegates.

Dr. Paula Hill-Collins testified at the Virginia Subcommittee of Health and Welfare in support of HB 793! Blessed with opportunities God is giving our free health clinic and the NPs who manage it.

The Health Wagon welcomes Henry Price Viers, FNP-BC.
Henry Price Viers is a native to Southwestern Virginia and has spent the past 10 years locally as a Registered Nurse, as well as greater than 5 years as a Family Nurse Practitioner. Outside of work, he enjoys spending time with his family and is of the Baptist faith.
