Breaking News: Assisted Suicide Bill Tabled Today - The Good News, The Bad News & An Important Call to Action (Please read, respond & share.)

Earlier today the Federal Government tabled Bill C-14 the much anticipated legislation on physician assisted suicide.

The Evangelical Fellowship of Canada summarized the bill in this way, "The legislation would allow euthanasia and assisted suicide for persons who are 18 years or older, with a serious and incurable illness, disease or disability, in an advanced state of irreversible decline and for whom death is reasonably foreseeable."

There is good news and bad news in this.

THE GOOD NEWS:

The good news is that the legislation did not apply some of the controversial recommendations of the Parliamentary committee such as access to assisted suicide for mature minors. Thank you to all of you who signed up to send postcards and wrote, called or visited your MPs regarding this issue. It is clear your efforts made a difference here.

THE BAD NEWS:

The bad news is that the legislation still opens the doors to government sanctioned killing.

If C-14 passes, this killing would be at tax payers expense. In addition, a glaring omission of C-14 is that it does not provide protection for the conscience right of medical practitioners. This is very disturbing as both tax payers and medical practitioners would be forced to participate in the intentional killing of other Canadians if the bill is passed.

It has been reported that the Liberal government will allow a free vote on C-14.

This means the bill could still be overthrown - if enough Canadians lift their voices.

WHAT YOU CAN DO AT THIS CRITICAL TIME:

We are asking every concerned Canadian to commit to calling 3 MPs one day a week from now until the final vote on the bill. These 3 MPs are: your personal MP, the Minister of Justice & the Prime Minister.

It will only take a few minutes of your time every week and will make a MASSIVE IMPACT.

So far 26 people have officially signed up for the call schedule. We would like to see that increase to 260, or many more!

If hundreds of us (or more) across Canada committed to doing this it would turn heads at Parliament in a way nothing else yet has....so let's do it!
