State Tax Incentives Study Deserves To Pass

***

Senate Bill 2057 is a simple, but mandatory study of tax incentives offered by the state.

It seeks to actually quantify the benefit of the tax exemptions that exist in North Dakota.

The Senate will soon vote on this bill, click here to tell your legislators to support this study.

Like any legislation could it be better? Sure.

It would be helpful if a study of discretionary exemptions in general were included - and whether local discretionary exemptions should be rolled into a single, state-mandated universal exemption that treats all taxpayers equally – a novel concept!

The goal of this study by the legislature should be to find out if tax incentives do more than pad pockets and whether they really lead to more economic growth.

People on both sides should support getting that data.

Again, click here to tell your legislators to support this study..
