We will know more when we see how Friday goes. | Prayer For whom are you praying today? How can we pray for you? We are here to pray with and for you, anytime! Prayer needs sent by early Monday morning will be included in the weekly Joys & Concerns email. We are also glad to send out prayer requests and praise reports anytime throughout the week! | Encouragement Thank you to Marcia Kreps for sharing and Darla Smith for writing these weekly bits of encouragement. "God is certainly good to us. He is blessing us with some almost perfect weather. It could stay this way in northern Ohio, and I would be just fine. Cool mornings and evenings and warm afternoons. What more could we ask for? God’s beauty and glory surrounds us during our day. Just so wonderful to think this same God has so much for us. If we would only tap into that." "Which brings me to our Word for the week, “REACH.” When I need to get anything out of our kitchen cupboards past the second shelf, it is just out of my “reach” because I am short. I must either ask for help or get a stool to “reach." There is always a way to “reach,” it just may take some doing. All God has for us is within our “reach.” How much do we want it? How much time are we willing to invest in Him? In others? God has so much for us that is within our “reach,” but it may take some doing on our part to achieve. The woman in the Bible that had been sick for years did whatever it took to “reach” Jesus. No matter what, she was determined to “reach” out for her miracle. How is our "no matter what?" Are we as determined to “reach” all God has for us? Holy Spirit, teach us to “reach” for more. Let’s not become complacent and let someone else “reach” for what God has for you and me. Let’s not shortchange ourselves and “reach” to become ALL God wants us to be – for His Glory! Have a super week!" Now to Him who is able to [carry out His purpose and] do superabundantly more than all that we dare ask or think [infinitely beyond our greatest prayers, hopes, or dreams], according to His power that is at work within us, ~ Ephesians 3:20 (Amplified Bible) | October Worship ~ Online & In-Person Pastor Mike Hileman ~ Sundays at 11:00am Join us at church or online via Facebook Live: Connecting Life We're excited to welcome you to Worship, in church and online! | Coat & Clothing & More Giveaway 2021 NEXT Saturday, October 16, 10am-1pm For the first time ever, in the warehouse! Bring camping chairs, appropriate clothes, and your family! *Rain Date - Wednesday, November 3 | Old-Fashioned Apple Butter Making Saturday, October 23, 9:30am to ?? Come join in the fun at this special event, a first for Common Ground Church Community, Connecting Life Church, and Goodness Grows! Guided by Sally & Fred Carrier, Jen Shannon, and their long family tradition of apple butter making over a roaring fire, we'll be working to create this seasonal delight. Participants will be able to take some home and Goodness Grows will use the rest for fundraising! The end time is stated as a question because we just don't know. A possible estimate has the event concluding about 7pm, but it could be earlier or later. It depends on things like the heat of the fire, the types of the apples, and more. All we know for sure is that it will end after the last bit of yumminess is canned! YOU are enthusiastically invited to join in anytime throughout the day to help with the process and enjoy fellowship while basking in the scent of apples cooking. We are also asking for donations of any variety of clean apples (we'll end up using at least 5 bushels) as well as regular mouth pint jars and lids. We can use either the one piece lids or the lid/ring combo. Please drop all donations off at church by October 20. Thank you! | www.goodnessgrows4all.org Our Mission Statement: To cultivate personal, social, and community growth through gardening, education, and opportunity for people of all abilities. ~~~ | So much space! | Lynn came to visit & donate! | Time for trees! | | | Dustin says, "No pictures!" | News of the Week This week has been mostly about the Giveaway. We spent part of Monday moving the donations from the Green Room to the warehouse. It takes a long time to move an entire room full of bags and boxes! After all that, we were ready for some time in the great outdoors. We headed to the woods to take care of some downed trees. Everyone ended their day worn out from good old fashioned hard work! On Tuesday, the warehouse work really got under way. Everyone pitched in to set up tables and begin getting organized. On Wednesday, our crew carried more tables, wiped down objects, and worked hard helping volunteers with sorting and setting up items. Today, we spent time out in the fields and gardens harvesting produce. Tomorrow, a food bank run will be made. We will definitely be spending plenty more time helping in the warehouse, too. Check out the applesauce table in the Great Room when you are here. We used local apples donated by our friend Ethan to make fresh applesauce. Leave a donation in the yellow pail and take home your very own jar of apple deliciousness! GG folks will be here on Saturday to get the wet wall replaced in the front greenhouse. Why is a wet wall so necessary for us? In order to keep plants healthy and growing in the hot months, it’s very important to control the temperature and humidity levels in a greenhouse. Our current wet wall is old and in need of replacement to keep plants and people healthy! We have the supplies, we just need the workers. If you have time on Saturday morning, we'd love to have you stop by and pitch in! | We Are Collecting... GG is collecting egg shells, egg cartons, plastic grocery bags, and coffee grounds.
