Hey y’all! It’s me, Brenda from Meal Planning Magic. You’re receiving this email newsletter because you signed up--maybe a while ago--to receive an extra weekly email where I share a little bit about meal planning, seasonal content I think you might enjoy and a little bit more about me.

So what's new with you? We've been busy with college visits--trying to narrow things down for my daughter, prepping for our new flooring, fighting off sinus issues (yuck!). My friends gave me a surprise birthday brunch on Sunday which was so much fun! Since i celebrated the big 5-0 this year they wanted to do something special because I downplayed it around my actual birthday. I truly was so, so surprised!

I'd love to hear from you! Read on to find some more weekly Meal Planning Magic inspiration!

On The Blog - Chunky Meat and Vegetable Pasta Sauce

Those who know me well, know I love a good spaghetti and red sauce. I like all types and earlier this week I shared this recipe for Chunky Meat and Vegetable Pasta Sauce. You can check out the recipe here. Make a double batch this weekend so you'll have extra for busy weeknights later!

Pin it to Pinterest here to remember to make it later!

Let me know if you give them a try!

Weekly Menu Plan

Hey all! This week is totally winging it week because we are deep into flooring remodel. I have no working electrical outlets and gas stove requires a lighter to start. But the oven works so yay! But our furniture is also piled up in one room so seating is a bit of an issue.

So take this dinner menu plan and use it as inspiration but I'll cross my fingers that it works out!

Week of February 17, 2019
Sunday - Cubano chicken with black beans and rice and a kale salad
Monday - Out to eat at Jason's Deli. No access to kitchen at all due to tile just being laid down!
Tuesday Order out pizza--again, the floors and a meeting for me make this night tricky
Wednesday - Fully Loaded Chicken and Potato Soup with Breadsticks and garden salad (Dream dinners to the rescue)
Thursday - YoYo for half the family as the other half (including me) will be at a meeting in Houston this night.
Friday - Leftovers or chicken tamales (from freezer), avocado and garden salad
Saturday - Not sure--going in lots of directions this day!

February Recipe Challenge - Budget Friendly Meals

This month's theme for the Recipe Challenge is Budget Friendly! Each month I'll be hosting a recipe challenge where you share your ideas with our community. Most of the sharing is happening in the Meal Planning Magic Community Table Group! Right now, your odds are pretty good as only a few people have shared their recipe ideas. You still have a little over a week to enter! Not on Facebook? Send me your recipe and/or images with the subject line #MPMRecipeChallenge to be entered into the drawing to win a $20 Amazon gift card! Good luck and thanks for sharing!

What Caught My Eye (and Ears) This Week

Each week I share a collection of news stories, books or things I'm listening to that caught my eye (and ears) this week so you can get to know me a bit more and maybe offer some of your own suggestions! Here goes:
* I saw this story on social media about how a guy was fed up with his classmate and it went viral. It's not at all what I thought it would be.
* Check out this story I saw about how a Long Beach baker turned his living room into a popular neighborhood bakery.
* The TED Radio Hour podcast is one of my favorites! It's a mash up of psychology and social science and lots of other things. Last week's episode on Bias and Perception was especially fascinating. You can check it out here.
* I love to learn more about the subject of food--there's so much to discover! Food deserts are a topic I'm particularly curious about and I have learned a lot through my work with our school district's School Health Advisory Council. My friend shared this story the other day about how dollar stores moving into cities can bring a steep downside in terms of making fresh food available. Check out the story here.

What's something new or fun that you've seen this week that's worth sharing? Let me know by replying to this email or sharing in our Meal Planning Magic Community Table Group! I'd love to hear from you!
