Fellow members of the WWII HRS,

The April issue of the Edge, the official journal of the WWII Historical Reenactment Society, is posted. Click here to download the Edge in PDF format.

I always look forward to the latest Edge to see the reports and pictures from recent events. Participating in a WWII reenactment you only get a limited view of your immediate surroundings similar to a real WWII soldier. Pictures and reports from events are invaluable to evaluate yourself and even your own unit. Submit any pictures from past events to the Edge or join the WWII HRS Flickr group or post them to the HRS facebook page. These can be valuable sources to improve our presentation.

Recently, I had an interesting discussion regarding getting more "history" into our living history. The thrust of the conversation was to change the "battle" scenarios from a typical living history fare to representing actual engagements tuned to the limitations of the event battlefield. This would of course take extra research and planning and may not work in every situation but in keep this in mind as you plan events and unit activities. More history is always a good thing!!

If you have found a WWII reenactment unit that impressed you and think they would be a good addition to the WWII HRS send the contact information to any board member. We are always looking for new units! This keeps our Society growing and healthy.

Do not forget the event request forms! If you want to use the Society's insurance for your event you must fill out an event request form. Also if you would like to include your event on the website listing please send that information onto the HRS Secretary Doug Loge.

Once again a reminder that the Board requests a followup report after every event. Secondly if your event is requesting an additional named insured to be added to the HRS policy the HRS will need to be added to the event site's insurance policy. This is a change for 2015 but will more evenly share the insurance burden between the HRS and the event location. If you have questions on this please contact me.

Several questions have been asked about membership cards. To get a membership card mailed to you contact the WWII HRS Secretary, Doug Loge. who will send one to you.

For any questions, concerns, or suggestions to improve the WWII HRS and WWII reenacting please contact myself or anyone on the board. We are glad to assist in any way! We do need some assistance on a Society membership database. If you are familiar with creating a simple database and could help out with this project let me know. This would help in the administration of the Society and provide better record keeping and reports for all units. The HRS Press Corps is always looking for more writers and photographers as ever. The many youtube videos and photographs produced by the group have helped to increase interest in WWII reenacting and is a great way for new member recruitment.

See your unit commander for the password to renew your membership! April 2015 WWII HRS Membership Application

On behalf of the WWII HRS officers and staff, see YOU at the next WWII time travel experience!
