Welcome new Members

New Member Orientation
New Member Orientation will take place Sunday, October 7, 14, 21 and 28 from 10:45-11:45 A.M. in the Adult Ministry room that is located across the hall from the nursery. If you have already made a decision to join St. Mark, or would like to know more about St. Mark and the theology of the Evangelical Lutheran Church in America as you consider membership at St. Mark, we invite you to attend these coming sessions. The Gospel of John

Gospel of John Bible Study
Do you desire to learn how God reveals himself to us through Scriptures? Join us for the Gospel of John Bible Study that meets on Wednesdays from 6:15-7:15 P.M. in the Adult Ministry room. Denise Cooper, M.Div., facilitates the study. Whether you can recite verses of the Bible by heart or have trouble finding Joel, Amos, and Obadiah, we have room for you. Join us as we explore, contemplate, and are inspired together. Each week stands alone. Come when you are able.

CROP Walk 2018

Crop Hunger Walk is coming Sunday, October 21, 2:00 P.M. at the Riverfront Museum.

Hunger is one of the greatest injustices facing our world today, but it doesn’t have to be… you can feed our neighbors here and around the world! Join Melinda Alekna on Sunday, October 21 for the Rockford CROP Hunger Walk. It is a very fun, family-friendly walk to raise funds and awareness. Register online at crophungerwalk.org\rockfordil. Can’t walk on October 21? Sponsor our team at the same website. Every donation helps end hunger and save lives! Help us reach our goal of 3 walkers and $300 raised! We also need volunteers! Care Package

CARE Packages For Our College and Military Young People.
Every year we send CARE packages to the young adults, from our congregation that are in the military or in college.

We need their addresses. Please e-mail melinda@stmarklc.com or call 815-871-0390, with your young person’s name and address.

Please send this by October 1. If you would like to donate candy to the CARE Package project, please drop off to the church office. Thank you!

Ladies Shopping Trip

We will depart from St. Mark parking lot at 8:30 A.M. Sign-ups start this Sunday in the Fellowship Hall.

We will be accepting new and gently used winter coats to benefit 815Breathe.

Join Rock Valley College as they head to the Magnificent Mile for some festive Christmas shopping amongst the twinkling lights of skyscrapers. With 460 retailers dotting the Magnificent Mile, you are sure to find something for everyone. Light refreshments will be served on the way to Chicago.

Children's Ministry

Sunday School with apple

If your children missed the first morning of Sunday school, please have them join us this Sunday, September 30. Sunday school meets in the lower level from 9:30-10:30 A.M. Students three years old by September 1 through sixth grade are invited to attend. Parents should accompany their students to the lower level and sign them in as a part of our Safety Policy. There is no fee for Sunday school.

Sunday School Singers will sing I’m Gonna Sing at the 9:30 A.M. service on Sunday, October 7 and Lesson from Colossians on Reformation Sunday, October 28. Mark your calendars. We need all of our voices.

The Sunday school Christmas program will be Sunday, December 9 at the 9:30 A.M. service. Special rehearsal will be Saturday, December 8 at 9-10 A.M. Mark your calendars!
