Many Film Events Coming up, Both IFSOC and Others

I apologize for this newsletter being a little late. I was enjoying the great Colorado outdoors and just got back from a camping trip.

There is a lot going on through the rest of July and August. This Thursday we are showing a highly acclaimed British film at the Tim Gill Center and Saturday we are helping the Rocky Mountain Women's Film Institute with an outdoor screening in Black Forest.

We have four more films to complete our series at the Ivywild School. Weather permitting, these will be outdoor screenings. If you enjoy the Ivywild screenings, let them know. As of now, our last screening at Ivywild will be on August 31st.

If you happen to be in Denver during August, check outBlssfest333 and their art and film festival. More details at the bottom of this newsletter.

I hope to see many of you at these great events.

Classic tale of teenage rebellion and repression features a delightful combination of dance choreography and realistic and touching performances. When teenager Ren McCormack and his family move from big-city Chicago to a small Midwestern town, he's in for a real case of culture shock. Though he tries hard to fit in, the streetwise Ren can't quite believe he's living in a place where rock music and dancing are illegal. However, there is one small pleasure: Ariel Moore, a troubled but lovely blonde with a jealous boyfriend. And a Bible-thumping minister, who is responsible for keeping the town dance-free. Ren and his classmates want to do away with this ordinance, especially since the senior prom is around the corner, but only Ren has the courage to initiate a battle to abolish the outmoded ban and revitalize the spirit of the repressed townspeople. Fast-paced drama is filled with such now-famous hit songs as the title track and "Let's Hear It for the Boy".

In an epic story of breathtaking scale, this film showcases a year in the life of a bear family as two impressionable young cubs are taught life's most important lessons. Set against a majestic Alaskan backdrop teeming with life, their journey begins as winter comes to an end and the bears emerge from hibernation to face the bitter cold. The world outside is exciting-but risky-as the cubs' playful descent down the mountain carries with it a looming threat of avalanches. As the season changes from spring to summer, the brown bears must work hard to find food-ultimately feasting at a plentiful salmon run-while staying safe from rival male bears and predators, including an ever-present wolf. This film captures the fast-moving action and suspense of life in one of the planet's last great wildernesses-Alaska!

At 7 a.m., they had nothing to say, but by 4 p.m., they had bared their souls to each other and become good friends. To the outside world they were simply a Brain, an Athlete, a Basket Case, a Princess, and a Criminal, but to each other, they would always be the Breakfast Club.
