Yolanda Rego, BS, BA joined Gonzalez & Associates P.C. in 2012 as a young professional upon graduation from Salem State University with a Bachelor of Science degree in Accounting. She started her career and it was evident within a few months that she possessed the skills necessary to be a true leader in our profession. Due to her exceptional performance, she was promoted to Tax Supervisor within two years.

During that time she has provided mentoring to new staff as well as being a focal point for tax research and a creative thinker on complex tax issues. Yolanda manages the process for preparing amended returns due to the partial overturn of DOMA and has been the firm liaison between the IRS’ taxpayer advocate office and clients in resolving these cases. She is also assisting with the management of the firm's tax practice.

Her participation and volunteer work with the LGBT community is creating new alliances and is helping the firm keep ahead of emerging issues within this community. Currently she is assisting the firm in developing tax resources for issues that impact the transgender community. Yolanda has volunteered through the VITA program and has participated in various programs aimed at youth empowerment.

Currently she is half way through her MST program at Northeastern and is in the process of taking the CPA exam. “It has been an honor and a privilege to work with someone so young, with such dedication, drive and passion; this is the inspiration that what will boldly move our profession forward” says Lillian Gonzalez, CPA, MST, CSEP, CSRP, ADPA, CDFA.
