General News

Welcome to Issue 2! I hope 2015 is treating you well so far :)

In this edition of The Lashings, I'm excited to share with you the news that Twelfth Planet Press will be re-issuing ALL the Tara Sharp novels (with new covers), and releasing book 4, Sharp Edge under their Deadlines imprint.

I'm so excited and happy to be working with Alisa Krasnostein again. I love what she's done with Twelfth Planet Press, and I know how committed she is to quality fiction. News of release dates will be following soon.

Some of you may remember that TPP published my Glitter Rose collection a couple of years ago. It was a beautiful collector's edition hard cover.

Deadlines is also the home of Livia Day's funny, foody crime novels.

The first three books will be coming out in around October this year, and the new, fourth book, will be released in 2016. Twelfth Planet Press have purchased WORLD RIGHTS, so finally we'll be able to take the books to international readers.

I want to take the chance to thank all the Marianne Delacourt readers for their continued support and love of Tara Sharp. She'll be back with a funny, exciting venture into the world of motorcycle mayhem.

Please don't hesitate to contact me if you have any questions.

Book News

Angry Robot Books will release MythMaker (Peacemaker #2) in October 2015. I'm looking forward to seeing Joey HiFi's new cover for the second book in the series.
Here's a preview of the story:

Virgin’s in a tight spot. A murder rap hangs over her head and isn’t likely to go away unless she agrees to work for an organisation called GJIC (the Global Joint Intelligence Commission). Being blackmailed is one thing, discovering that her mother is both alive and the President of GJIC is quite another. Then there’s the escalation of Mythos sightings and the bounty on her head. Oddly, Hamish is the only one she can rely on. Life is complicated.

And ... we've just heard that PEACEMAKER book #1 has been shortlisted for an Aurealis Award for Best Science Fiction novel!! That's welcome news as I finish off book #2 and decide Virgin Jackson's fate.

In the Works

This section is to give you an idea of what I've got in the works: upcoming projects and partially finished pieces. I'll try and keep up some kind of progress report...

I've finished a short story based on a dream that I had several years ago. The setting is a space station in the Sentients of Orion universe, and is about a psychologein who is called away from his research to interrogate an alien. From there a strange love story develops. It has no firm title yet, but I'm referring to it as The Echo of Love.

I'm into the next draft of my screenplay Stalking Daylight after having been given some great notes by author, Kim Falconer. Thanks, Kim!

My YA story The Mother, the Whip and the Night Smoke needs another round of editing before I send it out. Nearly there!

The Escape Club

Since the last newsletter, the front page of The Escape Club has been redesigned by Austin Designworks to give more focus to our YA book reviews. We'd love it if you would have a look and give us some feedback.

Our book club now has over a hundred and fifty members and we've just discussed PAWN by Aimee Carter and PANIC by Lauren Oliver. Next month's book is by Kendare Blake. You can catch all the discussion on our GoodReads page.

MDPWeb

With the increase of traffic/interest at all MDPWeb sites, I've taken on a bunch of new reviewers. Look out for guest reviews from Bron Mitchell, Shaneyah Galley, Stephen Dedman, Corrie MacDonald, and Sarah Todman. Also, announcing that A.V. Mather is now one of our permanent staff. Welcome Alison!

There may be a couple more inclusions to announce next newsletter. The new reviewers will be writing for all our sites, but with a focus on tarasharp.com.au which is about to have major revamp courtesy of Austin Designworks.

Social Media update:

I've recently updated my FLICKR page and you are welcome to browse the many photos I've put up there from conventions, expos, and public appearances I've done in the last few years. You may well find a picture of yourself :)

And don't forget we have a thriving YouTube channel with lots of vlog reviews, cooking demos and interviews with book bloggers.

Finally, over on my PINTEREST page you can find some quirky boards brimming with story ideas and cool stuff that the Internet washes in on the tide.

And so...

I've begun studying for my Masters of Philosophy which is focussed on science fiction and future feminism. This means reading some amazing fiction and academic texts in tandem. I've been busy acquiring titles and feel like I'm in heaven! Looking forward to a year of thinking and reading about the genre I love.

If you have any suggestions for my reading pile, you can read the discussion that's already going on on my website. Cyberfeminism FTW!

Hope you are all well and happy!

Marianne xx
