PINK OUT FOR MOM!

Please join RIPTA on May 6, 2015 when it partners with the Gloria Gemma Breast Cancer Resource Foundation and iHeartRadio for a statewide “Pink Out” to help raise public awareness about breast cancer and the importance of annual screening for women.

With studies showing that one in six women in Rhode Island will be diagnosed with breast cancer during their lifetime, this is a cause that is important to mothers, daughters, sons and husbands. The Gloria Gemma Breast Cancer Resource Foundation offers free breast health education, awareness and support programs statewide.

On Wednesday, May 6, 2015, all RIPTA employees will be wearing pink – including our drivers who will be wearing special “pink out” t-shirts. We’re asking the you to help raise awareness by taking a photo of yourself wearing pink on a RIPTA bus or at a bus stop and then upload it using the hashtag #pinkout4mom.

National Bike to Work Day is an annual event across the United States and Canada that promotes the bicycle as an option for commuting to work. Leading up to Bike to Work Day, national, regional, and local bicycle advocacy groups encourage people to try bicycle commuting as a healthy and safe alternative to driving by providing route information and tips for new bicycle commuters. On Bike to Work Day, a wide variety of bicycle-related events are organized.
