Ed. Notes- Joan Dye Gussow is held dear by all of us at KIDS. Not only is she a long time member of our advisory board, but her involvement dates back to before there was a KIDS program. Joan was Jane's doctoral adviser at TC and was our guide into the wonderful world of food. We learned at the foot of the master and she continues not only a be a mentor but a good friend. Look for her article in the upcoming KIDS Newsletter later this month.

Joan Gussow honored by James Beard Foundation

Teacher's College, Columbia University is delighted to share the news of Professor Emerita Joan Gussow's most recent honor. At an October 23rd ceremony, Dr. Gussow was awarded the James Beard Foundation 2017 Leadership Award. We are delighted to count the "matriarch of the eat-locally think-globally food movement" as one of TC's own!

In case you missed it, Joan was also honored this past July with the Helen Denning Ullrich Award of Excellence in Nutrition Education from the Society for Nutrition and Behavior (SNEB) for her outstanding contributions to the field.
