Join Midland Young Life for an exciting evening of tennis and fun at the 1st Annual Midland Young Life Doubles Tennis Slam- Oct 31st, 5-11 p.m.! This flighted, round-robin tournament is an event for all ability levels. Entry fee for adults is $100 and for students $50 with a discount if you register a group of four or more! Congratulate The Winners!

Juniors from the Greater Midland Tennis Center Academy programs took top honors at the Junior Fall Open Sept 19th.

In the Boys 14s Anish Middha won over training mate Kyle Kotanchek 6-0, 6-1, and in the Boys 12s Caleb Qui, Midland, bested Ashton Hesson, Grand Blanc, 6-0, 6-3 for the 12s title and Zaky El Nachef defeated Raouf Elsaadany, 6-3, 6-3 to win consolations.

Savannah Matuszewski bested Claire Earley, 6-3, 1-6, 10-7 to win the Girls 12s and Salma Elsaadany outlasted Samone Burroughs to win the consolation draw. Kelly Livingston defeated Arlene Tyler of Durrand 6-0, 6-2 for the G16s consolation title.

USTA Travel Teams Compete at Sectionals!

Adult teams from the Greater Midland Tennis Center won their USTA League District Championships and competed in the State and Sectional Championships recently in St. Clair Shores, MI and Fort Wayne, IN.

Competing in the 8.0 Mixed 18 & Over division the team captained by Andrew Rosine and Kiersten Shephard won the state tournament with wins over teams from Western, Southern and Northern Michigan and qualified for the Sectional Tournament in Fort Wayne, IN.

At the Sectional tournament the team won three matches over Illinois, Indiana and Wisconsin and came in a close second in the division. Additional players included, Amanda Stearn-Pfeiffer, Amanda Zoeller, Amy Katz, Chris Berger, Keith Daily, Kevin Dailey, and Konnor Brennan.

Also competing at State Championship tournaments from the Greater Midland Tennis Center were the Mixed 6.0 team captained by Brenda Kisting with Janet Gerding, Ayo Fakolujo, Steve Weckle, Maya Bolanowska, Francesca Manzini, Mark Baker and Greg Crighton; the Women’s 2.5 team captained by Roxanne Lehr with Ren Zhihong, Melissa Everett, Eti Farber, Sarah Johnston and Heather Calkin; Women’s 3.0 team captained by Brenda Kisting and Janet Gerding with Courtney Ginn, Francesca Manzini, Helen Gibbons, Holly Snelenberger, Jane Templeman, Kathryn Groening, Laurie Keyser, Maja Bolanowska, and Peggy Stuart; Woman’s 3.5 Team captained by Christy Pritchett with Cheryl Fernandez, Alexandra Lichtor, Chris Wilson, Donna Remenar, Holly Wedding, Karen Roberts, Kris Ginther, Maggie Steele, and Sara Aarons; Women’s 3.5, 55 and over team captained by Val Dvorak, with Cheryl Witt, Dorothy Marinan, Ellen Berosh, Holly wedding, Jill Jahn, Karen Roberts, Kris Hallett, Maggie Steele and Luvi Lee; Women’s 4.0Team Captained by Margaret Copeland, with Alexandra Lichtor, Amanda Stearns Pfieffer, Amy Katz, Dana Hemming, Elizabeth Parr, Kiersten Shephard, Lora Kazanjian, Mary Anne Wright, Piper Copeland, Rebecca Tanguay and Stephanie Pereira.
