Invitation to our Annual Report Meeting

Our MVPS School Council AGM gives us an important opportunity to share all the great work from 2023. This will be presented in our 2023 Annual Report.

We invite everyone in our community to attend this meeting. It is scheduled for Wednesday 17th April at 7pm. It will be online; a webex link will be shared at the beginning of that week via Compass.

Inter-school Chess Tournament

We are very excited to announce that we are hosting an Inter-school chess tournament in Term 2; Wednesday 15th May. Please see the flyer for more information or call Chess Ideas.

We can’t wait to see some of our MVPS students show other students all their fancy chess moves!

Parents Association News

On Tuesday 20 March 2023, the Parents Association held their Annual General Meeting (AGM). President (Chantal McCrae) and Treasurer (June Wang) presented the 2023 summary of achievements including:
• An amazing $53k raised through the 2023 carnival and a further $10k through additional fundraising
• $20k spent in giving back to our school community. Most notably the new water bubblers costing $9k and $5k towards the musical. We have also purchased new sports equipment, STEM materials and readers along with ongoing support of graduation and grade 6 jumpers.
• We ran many community events including mother's and father's day events, parent social event, ride to school day and the colour fun run.
• The carnival funds are being held to put towards the Kitchen Garden development which is expected to commence in 2024. We will continue fundraising for this throughout this year.

The 2024 Parents Association was also elected.
President: Chantal McCrae
Treasurer: June Wang
General Members: Samantha Moffatt, Adrian Connard, Darcie Weetman, Hilary Chan, Ruwani Jayaweera, Sophia Fatouros, Lee Ellingworth-Foster & Prasoon Veerath

We thank these parents for nominating and look forward to another great year. We also thank outgoing members Sarah Jenkins and Allison Brudenell for their contribution in 2023.

Victoria's Container Deposit Scheme

MVPS is now registered to receive donations through Victoria’s Container Deposit Scheme. Together we can make a positive difference to our environment and our school community. We encourage all MVPS Families to return eligible bottles/cans to the Oakleigh Return It Depot (Oxford St, Oakleigh). Once your donations have been fed through the machine click on ENTER SCHEME ID and scan our school barcode (attached), and your donation will be made to the school. Keep your receipt and give it to your teacher when we return to school and the winning class at the end of each term will receive a class prize! To check eligibility of containers just look for the 10c mark or visit cdsvic.org.au
