Glass Half Empty

Finally, a month that celebrates both wine and chocolate! It's February, and while it may still be winter, at least it's light at 5 o'clock. By now, hopefully all those well-intended New Year's resolutions have been broken and forgotten. And February is a month of holidays. First up is Super Bowl, a great excuse to eat to excess. Next is Valentine's Day with wine and chocolate almost mandatory. Presidents' Weekend implies time off from work, shopping and sales. However, I'll bet few of you are aware of the best February holiday of all--February is National Drink Wine Month, to be celebrated on February 18th, which is right in the middle of Presidents' Weekend! What a great month!
February is also an important month in the yearly cycle of winemaking. In the vineyard, we are now pruning our vines and in the wine cellar, we are starting to bottle some of last year's vintage. A lot to look forward to: Spring is coming and some new wine releases. But first, here's a toast to National Drink Wine Month, here's to February!
