June PD (Professional Development) Dates to remember

A reminder of upcoming June dates to mark on your calendars. REMC1 is pleased to announce its summer professional development offerings! Follow the link here for those sessions open to registration. click here

21Things4Teachers: Blending Instruction (30 SCECHs)
This program explores the 21 “must have” technology resources that all teachers should be proficient in. To better accommodate the busy schedules of our local educators, REMC1 has split this program up into three, independent, 30 SCECH courses. The “things” will be grouped into three central themes: Teacher Development and Productivity, Blending Instruction, and Differentiating Instruction and Assessment. 21Things4Teachers: Blending Instruction will kick-off with a face-to-face session at the CCISD on Friday, June 19 from 10 a.m. -12:30 p.m. and will continue online through August 20.
Fee: $100 (includes book and SCECH fee)

June 30
Blended Instruction with Moodle (10 SCECHs)
Learn how to get started with using Moodle for blended instruction. Start with a discussion of best practices, explore sample courses and then begin to develop the framework for a course in Moodle which will support face-to-face instruction. This session will be conducted at the CCISD on Tuesday, June 30 from 9 a.m. - 3 p.m. and will be the second time the CCISD Moodlers will be meeting this year!
Fee: Free*

*Session is free for employees of schools within the CCISD and GOISD. CCISD charges a nominal fee for SCECH processing which is not included.

Meet Your REMC1 Staff

jamie

Jamie is a Copper Country native and a 2002 graduate of Calumet High School. After high school he spent 4 years in the Marine Corps as a heavy equipment operator and did 2 tours in Iraq. 4 years after returning to Michigan Jamie decided to seek a degree in Computer Network and System Administration from Michigan Technological University. While attending MTU he worked as an intern at REMC1. Jamie completed his degree through Colorado Technical University.

Jamie became a full-time staff member in 2013 as a System Engineer, helping to manage and maintain REMC1’s network and clients on a daily basis.

Outside of work, Jamie enjoys spending time with his wife, Bridget, and 4 daughters: Laci, Nynna, Bianna, and Anita. Even outside of work Jamie continues to work with computers and other networking equipment to further his knowledge and understanding.

The Herman "Winks" Gundlach Read to Ride program is officially in full swing. Follow the link to learn more... UP Kids - Read to Ride Program The drawing this year will be held on August 6th. UP Kids is joined by several partners including REMC1 to support the importance of Kids and Literacy.

This is a state wide borrowing system that allows users to place their own interlibrary loan requests if they belong to a participating library, Michigana, a portal for discovering primary resources in digital format on Michigan history or Michigan's place in American History, and the Michigan Online Resources for Educators (M.O.R.E.), a portal linking to tens of thousands of curricular based resources such as lesson plans, interactives, videos and more that are aligned to the state and national standards (CCSS).
