The Gospel for this Sunday:

John 10:11-18

Good Shepherd

The image of the Good Shepherd shows us how the risen Christ brings us to life. It is the relationship between the shepherd and the sheep, one of mutual knowledge and love, that gives the shepherd authority. The shepherd’s willingness to lay down his life for the sheep shows his love. First John illustrates what it means to lay down our lives for one another by the example of sharing our wealth with any sister or brother in need.

Book Study: "Just a Sister Away"

book of faith

Thursdays; April 19, 26, & May 3

1:00 or 7:00 pm
This study explores Biblical lives of Biblical Women, thinking about how our understandings of our relationships within God’s creation are affected by our cultural understandings. This book has great insights that are, and are not, explicit in the Bible stories.

How to Get the Book:
Currently, the book is out of print, and hard to get. We have obtained 13 so far. However, Books are available for NOOK from Barnes and Noble here: [click here], and for KINDLE Amazon here, [click here.]

If we’re willing to confront the fact that some Biblical stories are horrendous, the Bible can give us a lot of insight about where oppression of women (and men) starts, but also, how we can change it through a deeper, and broader, understanding of God’s love.

The Most Exciting Event That Will Happen this Spring!!!

April 28; 8:00 - 10:30 am
The lawn and gardens for the church and rental property need to be cleaned up in time for the mowing season. When many people help, it is fun and very doable. Everyone that can please pitch in and do what you can. We will rake, cut back brush, pull a few weeds, mulch what we can and take the leaves and brush out to the street (Hegg Avenue). Please bring rakes, clippers, pruners and wheelbarrows if you have them. Cleanup followed by a light lunch. Sign up on the bulletin board. See you there.
