Spring Potluck Luncheon Success

Great big thanks to all who helped our first quarterly potluck be a delicious time of fellowship! Whether you brought food, worked on set up, helped with clean up, or manned the kitchen on dishwasher duty - you are appreciated! We can't wait to do this again in June. If you would like to join our dishwasher crew, let Jen Lynch know and we'll show you how it works.

Encouragement

Thank you to Marcia Kreps for sharing and Darla Smith for writing these weekly bits of encouragement.

"Surprise in Ohio this week – snow came back! Hopefully it will leave as fast as it came. I am ready for Spring. Ready for flowers – ready for sitting outside after work to relax. Spring as well as Easter will be here soon enough. Time is zipping in warp speed for sure. I pray you all are embracing the Easter season that is approaching. We have started to fast at church on Mondays, which doesn’t necessarily have to be food all the time. It can be anything that keeps us from spending time with Jesus. That can be a gambit of things for sure."

"That brings me to my WORD for the week, “INVEST.” The things we are giving up in our fast can give us ample time to “invest” in time with Holy Spirit. We can “invest” time in the Word and prayer. One of my favorite things to do with my time is “invest” in others as well. I love people and encourage them every day. My friend and I took her granddaughter to the ballet on Sunday – let me tell you it was a joy to hear her squeal with happiness over the ballet! The time we took to “invest” in her will be a memory for a lifetime. You know it doesn’t take much to “invest” in others. Just listen – the Holy Spirit will show you just what they need. As we “invest” our time in prayer – the Holy Spirit will “invest” in us and teach us what we need to do – who we need to “invest” in – how we need to “invest” in them. Sending them a quick note to tell them they are on your mind, and you are praying for them will be an “investment” with great magnitude. Don’t miss the opportunity. Keep your eyes open and your time to “invest” will be right there in front of you. I pray we all “invest” in someone this week. Watch how God will bless it!"

If you’ve gotten anything at all out of following Christ, if his love has made any difference in your life, if being in a community of the Spirit means anything to you, if you have a heart, if you care—then do me a favor: Agree with each other, love each other, be deep-spirited friends. Don’t push your way to the front; don’t sweet-talk your way to the top. Put yourself aside, and help others get ahead. Don’t be obsessed with getting your own advantage. Forget yourselves long enough to lend a helping hand. ~ Philippians 2:1-4 (MSG)

Saturday with the Scouts was splendid! This bunch of hard workers did some planting as well as some building. They might have been a young group but they sure didn't let that stop them! Everyone enjoyed working together so much that this troop plans to return later in the season. Way to go, Miss Rachel, inspiring the next generation!

We have jam news, thanks to our own Caleb Clapsadle. He suggested making a new lemonade Juicy Jam flavor to add to our rotation. On Monday, the first ever batch of Cherry Lemonade Juicy Jam was made...and it tastes like summer! Soon we will have some jars to sell. We hope you like it as much as we do!

Cameron Fortune came for a spring break visit on Tuesday and everyone was thrilled to see him. Even though he is in a sling, our Cam just keeps on going! We got the amazing news that he will be back at GG with us this summer, along with his brother, Keaton. We will all be excited to say, "Welcome home!" to both of them in May.

Our crew tackled many jobs this week. They took down luncheon tables and helped set up for the Ladies Tea. They baked spring-themed cookies for the tea as well. Of course, there was also plenty of cleaning, planting, organizing, and even a shopping trip to the Dutch Cupboard. Never a dull moment here at GG!

Goodness Grows Spring Community Service Project

Goodness Grows has decided to take on a service project to help a local family that is dealing with food insecurity and health issues. We feel that doing service projects is an important experience that benefits our clients and staff, challenging us to give back and look for ways we can grow some goodness out in our community.

If you would like to contribute to this project, please send in a monetary donation of any amount or a gift card for any grocery store. Goodness Grows will match all donations, dollar for dollar, so we can make as big of a difference as possible. Feel free to include an encouraging note for us to pass on to the family, if you feel the desire to do so.

Please send in donations by Friday, March 24. Once we have our funds collected, we will plan a field trip for our GG crew to go shopping together for the family.

Thank you,
GG Staff & Board

For I was hungry and you gave me food;
I was thirsty and you gave me a drink;
I was a stranger and you took me in;
I was naked and you clothed me;
I was sick and you visited me.
I was in prison and you came to me.

.....When you did it to one of the least of these my brothers and sisters,
you were doing it to me.
